I thought I was pretty sure I liked pancakes better than waffles but I’m going to an IHOP tomorrow for breakfast and my uncertainty in what I will order means the battle rages on

after watching pure food shows the past weekend, I am now deciding on trying to cook for myself an actually meal.

This could be a disaster tbh.

Leaving for a road trip up the NE coast tomorrow and I'm effin pumped.

Hitting a bunch of great food spots in Boston, New Haven and Portland (ME). Anyone have any can't miss food spots in those cities? I have a list of a bunch of spots I want to try, but doesn't hurt to come to my favorite thread to see what you guys say.

Boston: Row 34 has a good raw bar and beer selection. My favorite spot in the North End is Lo Conte's on Salem St. It's been the best of the few places I've been for a good balance between quality/price/portion size. Yankee Lobster Co. is a pretty good fish market that I like for lunch.

Portland: Duckfat for fries and sandwiches, the best around. Eventide Oyster for oysters and raw bar. Fore Street for a more upscale place with a seasonal menu that changes. Bissell Brothers for beer and they usually have a food truck.

There are a ton of places in both cities that are fantastic as long as you stay away from the touristy/chain type spots.

Your first time cooking a dish likely will be a disaster. Your fifth time cooking it will produce something you enjoy eating. Your tenth time will cause people to ask you for your recipe.

I'm convinced that everyone can cook, and cook well. It just requires persistence and curiosity.

It's true, and I'm still very much in that stage. You start to pick up techniques and an understanding of flavors eventually though and then you can look at recipes as a guide. Then it gets real fun.

I’m on a road trip through America right now and I picked up a bunch of cereal we don’t have in Canada. Hopefully I’m not taxed when I cross the border

There is a deli in town. Like a local 7/11 type thing but amazing. Like the kinda place where if u venture in u might get food poisoning and die. It's dirty and riff raff hang around. But it was DELISH. A GEM. And it's closed with no explanation. There's a giant lock on the door and their fb says nothing and it's a mystery I demand answers to. Where else can I get a filling and delish lunch for $2.19????

It's warm and sunny and I wish I was in California eating In n out. But I am not. I am still laying in bed at 12:13pm not eating in n out.

Is Portland as far north as you’re going? Burning Tree near Bar Harbor is an absolute must if you’re up that way.
