For breakfast, I took a frozen pack of Trader's Joe's Bacon Ends and Pieces. Chopped up some of the bacon into tiny pieces and threw it on the stove top to heat up. Added a bunch of chopped up mushrooms to cook in the bacon grease as the bacon cooked alongside. When cooked, put the bacon and mushroom aside and threw two beaten eggs on the pan, using some remaining bacon grease as the oil, to start an omelette. Took a slice of tillamook cheddar and broke it up for the inside of the omelette as I smashed an entire avocado w/ salt & pepper. When the cheese properly melted and the egg was setting up, put all the bacon and mushrooms back in, laid the entire avocado in the inside and closed up the omelette. As you might expect, it was amazing

The California Burrito had chicken, shredded lettuce and cabbage, pico de Gallo, nacho cheese sauce, beans and fries.

    It was wild.

honestly I give them props for experimenting with the California burrito.

I do still stand with this one place in Coachella having the best California burrito imo.

At the festival? Or just some spot in Coachella valley? The best California burrito I have ever had was in San Diego at this little hole in the wall that I would have to search a long time to find again. It's the holy grail in my mind.

    You're welcome any time!!

It's a local chain to the Coachella valley. I know for sure they have one in Coachella(city) and San Bernardino.

I need to venture to SD eventually to try the motherland of California burritos.

I made the best reubens ever last night, especially considering I don't own a sandwich press. Just thinking about it is making me want to have the exact same thing for dinner again tonight.

Honestly? I don't know haha. I'm just personally a big fan of reubens in general. I just went to Wegman's and got all their store brand stuff, essentially: sauerkraut, thousand island dressing, baked-in-store rye bread, etc. Wegman's store-brand stuff is generally very good, to the point that I honestly prefer it to a lot of name brands. Then got fresh corned beef and swiss cheese from the deli counter.

I buttered both sides of the bread and crisped them up in a frying pan. Then I removed the bread, added the meat to the pan and got it warm and sizzling before topping it with the kraut, dressing, and two slices of cheese. Let the cheese melt a bit, then put the pile on the bread in the same pan top-side down. I toasted that side completely, then flipped the entire sandwich and toasted the bottom. Then just transferred it to a plate and cut it in half. Came out perfectly.

Sounds amazing. Wegman's is the best grocery store I've ever been to. I wish they'd open up one closer to me. Driving 40 minutes for Wegman's isn't that feasible, but I still do it many times a year.

It really is. The first time I ever experienced one was in the next town over from my college. I used to go there all the time while at school but there wasn't one near enough to my home to go there when I wasn't at school.

But there's a Wegman's literally two minutes from my current home that I moved to back in October. So it's become my primary grocery store. I've never been happier.

Here's a question for the ol' Food thread: do people prefer corned beef or pastrami reubens? I enjoy both but I prefer corned beef.
