Pickled carrots on a sandwich always make it better

 

I love all things pickled, but idk about that haha

 

i have eaten so much pizza over the last month. like probably had it every other day.

 

I'm with you haha

 

My fave thing is to go to the candy store and get a bag filled with sour candy, preferably sour belts, but also throw in some gummy bears and strawberry licorice so some of the sour flavor gets on it but it's not as sour as buying the sour versions of those things like it's just the perfect amount and it's Tony the tiger great.

 

I'm cooking dinner with one of the better head chefs in my area tonight. Gonna be a blast. Pork tenderloin is on the menu. I just hope I don't fuck up.

 

I bought an Amy's frozen meal the other day and now I'm hooked. I didn't know TV dinners could taste so good.

 

they're good but soooo expensive

 

I don't buy a lot of single meals to compare it to but I did notice the $3.50 tag. I figure I'd spend more than that buying the stuff at work. It was easier to justify after trying them and reading the ingredients.

 

I had in-n-out for the first time in months yesterday. I was on the fence before and I hate to say it, but Culver's is for sure better.

 

A conversation I have often:

*Me, eating sushi minding my own business*

"Is that sushi?"
"Yes"
*They make disgusted face*
"Have you ever had sushi?"
"No"

It's even funnier cause co-workers do it a lot and we often complain how kids don't eat the food and won't even try it first, and then adults do the same thing and don't notice

 

this isn't The Breakfast Club sushi isn't exotic anymore

 

exotic is one of those words that make me uncomfortable now. too many female friends with stories about that word lol

 

They always follow up saying they don't like seafood/raw fish. Every time. And then I swoop in like hey, I don't eat seafood either. lemme direct u to these other options because there are honestly like unlimited combinations of sushi. And they usually love it after they try it, so... and then if they wanna venture into seafood combos later they are more than welcome!

It's just so weird to me to be closed-minded like that. It's one thing to try it first and dislike it (even tho again there are so many combos I still think it's weird) but when a grown adult won't even try like a basic food it hits a nerve in me. Be an adult. Grow up and at least take a bite tbh!!!!

 

I tried sushi once. The first bite wasn't bad but the second was hard to get down. One of my coworkers was like, "You don't like sushi? All white folk like sushi." I'm like, nah.

I would try it again, though. Acquired tastes need to time to be acquired.

 

tbh I'm not great with acquired tastes. If something is not good on the first try then I'm not gonna keep trying it, like not when it's gross. But slide me a nice veggie sushi and I'm on it. I just get so excited when my town gets actual unexpected (for the area) restaurants that are either ran by or employ many poc that I go HAM and eat at those places like 5x a month lol

cause I think I'm gonna keep them in business with my cheap orders or something idek haha

 

I don't like fish or avocado so my sushi options are very limited

 

I've had some stuff that I wasn't crazy about, but I didn't hate, like goat curry. I would try that again. I guess if I don't like it the second time, it's not looking good. I usually figure it could taste different depending on where you get it.

It goes the other way sometimes, too, like lengua tacos. I liked them the first and second time, but the third was kind of iffy. Not off the figurative table yet.

I don't need to say it but definitely eat at those places. They'll stand a chance if you do haha.

 

tbh some days I'm pretty sure I single-handedly keep the sushi and thai restaurants open myself haha. Mexican restaurants tend to do well here on their own but u know how white ppl love their A U T H E N T I C Mexican food. Anything else tends to die a quick and painful death.

 

That's cool. How'd you get that opportunity? How'd it go?

 

We used to work together as line cooks. It went pretty well. We both got really stoned, so the plating kind of suffered but the food was exceptional. Pan roasted pork tenderloin with a pan sauce, steamed green beans, and roasted baby potatoes. I should have taken a picture haha.

 

I was just thinking "I hope he has a picture" haha. That's awesome man.

I went to the nice part of Fresno yesterday because it has a nice shopping center.

I happened to walk into a farmers market happening there. Me and my buddies found this food truck and they had spicy spam burritos and it was truly amazing.

especially for the price of $6.
