My diet has been mostly bourbon lately, haha.

But I did have really dope duck confit poutine a couple nights ago.

 

sounds delicious. what kind of bourbon do you prefer?

 

All time favorite, right now anyway, Stagg Jr.

Also really like anything Michters does. I'm going up to Vermont next month for my birthday and really want to stop by Whistlepig.

 

Michters American is my favorite whiskey at the moment. Their bourbon and rye are great too. I'll have to check out Stagg Jr. I also love Blanton's when I can find it.

 

I usually go Bulleit...I need to try some more though.

 

I have a place by my house that is like the shittiest liquor store ever but they have like 6 bottles of Blanton's and I think I'm the only person who has ever purchased it because most people are there for cheap shit beer.

I'm lucky since my family is from Louisville all of my uncles and aunts send around bottles of bourbon to each other and I've finally graduated to being an adult in their eyes so I get to participate.

Stagg Jr., at least here, is pretty hard to come by and always way overpriced. The MSRP is 50 but the last time I actually saw a bottle it was priced at 100. It's crazy high proof. I think my bottle from this year is 63.5 ABV so 127 proof. It needs a few drops of water and time to sit but if you get the proportion of water right and are patient it's seriously perfect. It's like creme brulee. I just saw a report that Stagg's production is up like tenfold so hopefully it won't be as rare anymore.

 

Bulleit is a really solid choice. Michter's is really well priced and really great. I think that's a pretty solid place to go if you wanna try other things.

I could seriously talk for hours about bourbon. But if you are just starting I cannot stress the importance of 1. getting the right glass. You want a glencairn 2. let your bourbon sit for 15 minutes before you drink it and 3. you can drastically change the taste and complexity of bourbon with a few drops of water. Room temperature water. No ice. And seriously just like a drop or two will do wonders. A drop of water makes all the oils present in the bourbon come together.

 

This conversation is fascinating for someone so unrefined that I need my wine diluted with juice

 

even like, a moscato? That tastes pretty close to juice by itself.

Honestly, I'd rather drink the sparkling apple juice stuff over moscato. Sparkling apple juice is so good.

 

Idek what kind of wine cause I don't buy it myself. But my friend was a bartender and if I'm hanging out and she has wine she'll add lots of juice and cut up fruit for me and I feel special lol

Martinellis sparkling apple juice is my fave

 

Agreed on Bulleit... especially their rye. One of my favorites. I'm probably not as refined of a bourbon drinker as you. I love a good cocktail with bourbon, either it be a simple evan williams and coke, a bulleit rye old fashioned, or a blantons with a drop of water.

But listen to the beav, @Mr. Serotonin, Michters is incredibly good for its price. And you can pick straight forward whiskey, bourbon, or rye.

 

What really matters is that you drink what you like
