i just learned about this the other week from a coworker who picked up some shifts there.

 

I made alfredo sauce with half and half for the first time. It's pretty good. The last time I tried making sauce that involved flour a disaster ensued but this one is really good!

 

If you don't mind being unhealthy, my favorite alfredo sauce is just a mix of the pasta water, butter, and parmesan. Really bad for you but utterly sublime.

 

Tbh I feel like if ur making alfredo sauce you've already embraced the unhealthy!

Speaking of the history of common pasta sauces, the father of one of the professors at my law school actually is one of the people who lays claim to inventing vodka sauce. She made the recipe one time for a function at school and, not going to lie, it was pretty incredible.

 

I went to an Italian Fest yesterday and will be going again Tuesday. The food was sooo good so I'm excited to go again and get some different things. I had fried mozzarella, ricotta stuffed eggplant, Oreo cheesecake, and lemon ice. Must get fried dough next time and prob some pasta of some sort and a different dessert.

 

Last week, I drove out to a good Mediterranean place and they were closed midday. Came back today and the sign on the roof was gone so I think that's all she wrote.

Ended up trying Waffle House instead. It won't replace my favorite, ubiquitous breakfast options, but it's nice to know they're 24 hours. I sleep hella late on the weekends and there aren't many places open at 3-4pm.

 

Chipotle's in Denver and SoCal are getting queso. I don't care if I get food poisoning, this is my dream.

 

You guys ever buy a bunch of groceries, bring them home, then realize you'd rather go out and grab dinner? It happens to me almost every time.

 

I always stop and get something at the deli or stop somewhere on the way home after I grocery shop lol. It's too taxing to cook afterwards apparently!

 

I eat a lot of frozen pizzas for dinner. By the time I get home and unload everything, I tell myself they're almost thawed and it's easier to go out. Dumb logic that doesn't quite make sense, but I roll with it haha.

Am I crazy for not being a fan of his? I put up with him when he's with Batali, but I usually just find him annoying. I am curious to check it out though, that hamburger does look tasty.

 

All I know about him is that he's said gross stuff about trans people

My friend tried it today and said it was pretty bad. I don't know how you mess up queso. He said it was bland and the consistency was off.

 

I was pretty disappointed too. I tried it on a burrito bowl, but also added guac and hot salsa so I didn't really notice it. I've had queso with guac and hot salsa at other places and the queso still manages to shine through.

 

Oh man I didn't know he had his own taco place. I need to hit that up the next time I'm in LA.

 

Yeah, apparently it just wasn't very flavourful.

Moe's queso on the other hand, is prettyyyy delicious.

 

I don't think they have Moe's in Colorado. Well, we have Moe's Bagel's and Moe's BBQ, which are both pretty great, but no Mexican food to my knowledge. Illegal Pete's is where it's at for queso around here.

 

I've heard great things about Illegal Pete's and i don't even live in CO, haha. Not even their queso, just their food in general.

 

Yea, it's all pretty great there. Although I should mention I usually hit it up as a late night food spot, so my level of intoxication when I eat it may bump up the ratings a little.

Their breakfast burritos are A+. Really good, plus they're the size of a normal burrito but half the price.

 

I know one of you fuckers has done this
