Bought a microplane this weekend and kind of blown away by how thinly it shreds cheese. Made aglio e olio tonight and the parmesan just melted right into it

Also a game changer for homemade dressings. Grate some shallot, ginger, and/or garlic in to some olive oil and vinegar and you're good to go.

As Daniel said, the microplane is a game changer.

It's also great for zesting fruit and grating all sorts of spices. I use my microplane almost every time I cook. Sometimes I'll microplane dark chocolate or cinnamon onto an affogato when I'm feeling festive.

  5. Couple ridiculous burgers I got this past weekend for Portland’s Burger Week.

From this past weekend, made scallops with roasted corn salad and a roasted bell pepper puree. Very happy with it but this was too many scallops for one serving

That does look really good. I also made scallops recently and 6 was the number. It was.. a lot, but I ate it all.

IMG_1124.jpeg IMG_1125.jpeg If people are looking for an alternative to nonstick pans, Misen has recently released a line of carbon nonstick skillets that are supposedly built to last “forever.” I recently got my pans from their kickstarter campaign and early results are extremely promising. This is an omelette I made using the 8” pan directly out of the box, with no seasoning, and it worked just like a traditional nonstick. Obviously the real test will be how they last over time but so far they look like they might be a game changer. The pan is what it looked like after the cook. I have a wide range of products from these guys I’ve acquired over the years and they range from me being extremely pleased to not super-impressed.
