You guys I figured it out. I used pancake mix instead of powdered sugar in the frosting I am dying. It was in a Mason jar and I looked at it this morning and realized I had taped the nutritional label of the pancake mix to the back of the jar for this very reason. I can't stop laughing. I haven't told my bf yet
I redeemed myself and made m&m brownies and scones for my work bake sale. I mean they were both boxed but whatever. I sold out of both! Someone asked me my scones recipe and I should've been like "well I started by strolling thru my garden for some raspberries" but I had to be like "go to world market fam" instead
Nothing crazy but I really was craving to make a homemade balsamic vinegarette dressing and I'm really happy how it turned out (also insanely easy to make and it says it lasts a long time). I did add a bit more balsamic vinegar than it called for after tasting it. Then made a fresh salad of lettuce, cabbage, carrot, chopped walnut, and chicken.
Homemade salad dressing is really easy to make and people think you're super talented if you do it. Off topic, but I am In Chicago for the day and going to the Cubs game, anyone have recommendations for places to go for dinner near the stadium?
A Look Back at Every Time I Fought a Man Who Disagreed With Me About Blue Cheese @Ken I didn't know you started writing for The Hard Times now, good for you
Here's a random collection of some things I've thrown together lately that I've been pretty happy with. 1. Homemade 'vegan' potstickers (dough and filling). Used impossible meat. Not 100% vegan as I used a drop of fish sauce but whatever, it barely counts IMO. 2. Some spaghetti Bolognese and garlic bread. 3. Some homemade pho. I feel like I'm approaching pretty good for a white guy status at that dish. 4. Some homemade ravioli with a sweet potato ricotta filling. Not pictured (sort of in the background) - made a spinach sunflower seed pesto.
Made a breakfast taco for the first time. Bacon, eggs, cheddar, hot sauce, ketchup, salt and pepper on a whole wheat tortilla. Came out dope
Swordfish kebabs, shrimp, scallops, and vegetables. There was also a swordfish steak. I love grilled food.
Sounds bomb. I can't decide which is better... The ketchup and hot sauce combo, or just using maple syrup
