Jumping on the butter board trend. Really bomb, you can put pretty much anything you can want on them. And to not feel like straight up psychos eating bread and butter for dinner, we made a roasted honeynut squash salad.
first chili of the season and i feel very strongly that if you don’t put a tiny bit of cinnamon in your chili you’re missing out
Never made it with cinnamon but I do put a little nutmeg and turmeric. I’ll have to try cinnamon next time, sounds fantastic.
just a tiny pinch! maybe 1/8-1/4 teaspoons if I measured? You can’t taste it, but it just enhances the other flavors and adds a nice warmth to the overall flavor.
I was going to ask a while ago what's everyone's secret chili ingredient. Haven't heard cinnamon, going to have to try it. I like to put some peanut butter in mine, gives it depth of flavor and heartiness. I've heard chocolate, soy sauce and obviously beer. What's everyone else use?
I'm gonna make french toast with the trader joes pumpkin brioche bread for dinner cause I keep putting it off and I don't want it to get dried out. I keep cheating and just eating plain slices of it. But today it will live up to its potential! Wish me luck. I've done french toast before but cooking for my bf makes me nervous. He's never rude about it, but I accept whatever slop for food is placed in front of me and he challenges me more to try and not just settle for "eh it's edible."
Diced green chile and/or some brown sugar. Also a splash of Butterfly Bakery of Vermont Maple Wood Smoked Onion hot sauce
Eating some empanadas. Two are cheeseburger (I think just beef and cheddar) and one is chicken and cheese. Sauce it like a sweet sauce of some kind really good
There's a place by my parents that shoves Thanksgiving dinner into empanadas with a gravy dipping sauce and it's so bomb.
Okay I made some soup the other night and it turned out okay. I think it's fine but not great. But my bf loved it or at least pretended to and didn't even mind the vegetarian chicken in it. My potato chunks were kinda big. Idk how to dice stuff so I just hacked them up. I cheated and bought a pre-packaged diced carrot/onion/celery mix from trader Joe's. Work smarter not harder. Also the recipe was annoying and vague so it actually turned out better than I expected given that. Also it has a biscuit witch hat because I'm spooky
I made wild rice and mushroom soup tonight. It was really good except I wished I liked mushrooms more lol. Taste wise it's fine but the consistency is hard for me. But I do think objectively it turned out good. I tried making orange tofu and that was a disaster lmao. I missed a whole section of the recipe and then didn't have cornstarch and tried to make due with flour to thicken the sauce but it wouldn't dissolve so I had to strain the lumps out and try again and I almost threw it away out of frustration but I think it's edible. I'm gonna have it with vegetable fried rice which I think will fortunately steal some of the focus from the tofu.
has anyone tried that Graza olive oil? social media ads have almost convinced me to buy it but not sure if it’s worth it.
Made this Tonkatsu Kare (Japanese pork curry) the other day, topped with my own pickled cabbage, green onions, and some furikake. Might be my favorite thing I’ve ever cooked but this took nearly 3 hours from starting to plating since we have a fairly tight kitchen to work in and the sauce alone took well over an hour to make:
Thank you and it was for sure worth the amount of time it took! Next time I do it I'd probably save myself some time by make the sauce the day before and just heat it up. I've been on a pretty big comfort food kick as its started to get colder out and this was the perfect dish for that.
Anyone shop at Central Market? I've always thought they were unaffordable but I got some coupons that basically make it half price and I've been loving all the great stuff I've been getting. Cheeses, pasta, sandwiches, fresh juices, coffee, bulk spices...
