I watched the first 4 episodes and I'm really stoked on it. It's the closest to actual restaurant grunt work I've seen. Also really strong performances. And it's an Italian beef place in Chicago so plenty of shots of giardiniera.
That’s good to know. So many shows and movies ignore how brutal it can be to work in a restaurant. I’ll have to check it out.
There's a scene an episode or two in where there's just a long, single camera take of service and the dialogue and movement was so perfect I thought I was having flashbacks.
Yeah the first episode of the bear definitely captures the feel of working in a kitchen. Excited to keep watching.
I know people have strong feelings about Matty Matheson but he's a consulting producer and plays a small role in the show but you can definitely tell, in the shots of prep, that they really thought about those things. Even small things like family meal are a nice inclusion.
Haha, I feel like you either love him or hate him. I just appreciate the overwhelming positivity even if it can be grating at times. And he makes some rad food.
yeah I get people find him annoying but he’s an awesome, happy, positive dude who got sober (which is inspiring) and is just all around rad.
This is dish I’ve made a few times recently. It’s basically Italian wedding soup (spinach, carrot, dill, parsley, onion, garlic), but turned into risotto and topped with sweet Italian sausage meatballs and some added Calabrian chilis.

me and my friends have been having what we call "Hot Dog Summer" so you know there will be lots of dogs consumed tomorrow
Missed opportunity to call them crockpotdogs. I am going to the Craft Beer and Hotdog Festival tomorrow. I haven't eaten a hotdog in a year in preparation. Gonna get weird.
