Made an Instagram avocado toast recipe Chili crisp, egg on top. Spread cottage cheese on toast. Hot honey on top. Add sliced avocado. Add egg on top. More chili crisps and scallions.
I don't think I've tried cottage cheese since it made its comeback. I don't remember being all that fond of it, but it's a huge thing now that protein is the buzz word. Love chili crisp and love a good runny egg. It's why I liked fried over scrambled always. Poached is good as well, but gotta have that yolk.
I honestly think this is the first time I used cottage cheese for anything lol. The dude in the video put on way more than I did Here's the link
Me and my friend were trying to explain what panna cotta is to someone and my friend said "milk jello" and I was horrified but tbh it's kinda accurate.
my new time-killing hobby, inspired by the horrible and doomed (and AI art powered, grrr) theme restaurant now open directly below my apartment that I dream of replacing: conceiving the perfect diner. as part of that mission I created a new pancake today - oreo crumbs in the batter, oreo creme cheesecake filling. pretty fuckin good. that's one recipe down...
Made an interesting “healthy brownie” thing today (but didn’t get a pic). Basically the recipe is just this: -Cup of steamed, mashed sweet potato -1/2 cup of almond or peanut butter (I used almond) -1/4 cup of cocoa powder -1/4 cup of maple syrup (I used agave) Then bake on 350 for 15-25 min They are actually pretty solid. Definitely tasted like a fudgy brownie, albeit less sweet. I wanna make this again but play around with the recipe
A local sub sandwich shop opened in my building and I wanna try it but they're charging $15 a sub and idk about that.
Went to AZ a little while ago and tried Pizzeria Bianco. The pies look kinda messy, but it was very good. Appetizer is spiedini. Pizzas are the Sonny Boy (tomato sauce, mozzarella, salami, greta olives) and the Wiseguy (roasted onion, smoked mozzarella, fennel sausage)
if its at least like 10 inches with premium ingredients than that's a totally fair price. if its some little 6 incher subway jawn then they can kick rocks
Thai-Chinese place here in Portland that we loved. chive cakes (tapioca starch, garlic chives, black soy dipping sauce) stir fried wide rice noodle and chicken w/ pork fat, prik nam som, lettuce, steamed egg. char siu pork w/ pickled cucumbers and 3 dipping sauces (chili oil, serrano nam jim, hot mustard)
I tried my hand @ braised pork belly with quick pickled cucumbers a few weeks ago and it turned out pretty well. The only thing I'd change is the addition of star anise to the pork...turns out that is the one distinct flavor I've hated for years but now I can put a name to it
Their not good social media presence does not specify size anywhere nor on their online menu or website or advertising. Saw a few pictures in reviews but there was nothing next to them for scale so size unclear. In some photos they seemed decently sized and in others they looked small. May just have to sacrifice $15 and take one for the team
Went to this crazy spot in Vancouver for my birthday. It was a 14-seat Yakitori omakase place with a Michelin star. Pretty cool experience. I think there were 16 courses. The most challenging were a skewer of 3 of these little whole squids and one skewer that was just like 5 chicken hearts. They both tasted amazing, the squid texture was a little difficult. The picture is wagyu with a fried quail egg. Some really amazing stuff, some of the best bites of chicken I've ever had.
Nice. I have Vancouver on my list to visit someday and if it's a 'big' vacation (and not just a random trip in and out in a weekend), I always try to hit up one fine dining spot. This sounds good - though I'm with you on the squid, I'm not a huge fan the times I've had non calamari squid so not sure how I'd handle that.
Speaking of fine dining, I meant to post this a minute back. I tried an attempt at a fancy valentines day meal and it went okay. As always my plating fell apart a little the day of under the pressure, so I didn't get many pictures. Here's the braised short ribs from the next day when we had a full plate instead of a tasting menu portion, and those were awesome, like seriously super good. Also the fish from my test dish. I got rid of a lot of the celery as it was wayyyyy too much but otherwise, plated the same. My wife hated the fish which I know she doesn't like most times but I figured I'd win her over. Wrong move (even though I thought it was decent). I think everything else was well received including the cake and I don't bake so I was pretty proud of that. The anchovy / parmesan custard was interesting but tasty. I was going for like an elevated Caesar type thing.
i add sugar free chocolate chips or sugar free PB chips to mine to make it feel more “brownie” like and a little coffee to enhance the cocoa!
