what nonstick frying pan does everyone have and like? I tried a pre seasoned carbon steel pan and truly everything I’ve made cooks so unevenly, but it was cheap so I’m wondering if I just need to invest in a better one?
I recently got Misen's new Carbon Nonstick pans, and so far I've been happy with them. They aren't quite as non-stick as like a teflon pan but pretty close and they aren't coated in a toxic material that flakes so supposedly will last forever. We will see how long their durability is. Otherwise if you want an actual non-stick, then I would just get a cheap one. They all lose their ability after a while and need to be replaced so not really worth spending too much on them. Or depending on what you want to cook with it, a well seasoned cast iron or carbon steel will be extremely non-stick with proper use. I also use stainless as my main go-to for a lot of things because I can toss them in the dishwasher, or I want food to stick slightly to get good browning and/or fond.
My girlfriend has a cheap ceramic pan that I think came from target originally. I’ve been cooking on it regularly for a year and have liked it more than any normal nonstick pan I’ve used. Probably my second favorite pan behind my cast iron.
I made gluten free dairy free treats for a baby shower today A lemon blueberry bread that isn't bad but is a lil obviously gluten free to me. It turned out better tasting than it looks. It looks kind of pale on top but I was worried about overbaking since the toothpick came out clean Then I made banana chocolate chip cookies. It tastes the same as the ones I typically make with dairy and gluten, but the consistency is a lil softer like they didn't quite bake all the way on the bottom I've never intentionally made a gluten and dairy free thing before so it's interesting but wasn't a failure
Didn’t get any pictures but I made clam chowder, impossible beer brats, and crawfish etouffee this weekend
I did Frank’s, butter, sherry vinegar, garlic, garlic powder, lots of cayenne, and a shit ton of red pepper flakes.
Slow cooked smoked pulled pork on Mac and cheese. Best meal I've had all year. Came with some nice, warm honey corn bread
Rochester, NH lol. It's a family establishment from some folks who moved here from Mississippi MrSippy BBQ Really good shit
I am not a bbq expert by any means but I will say that it was delicious to me and even though I was full, I was angry it was gone because I wanted more! Very curious about their thanksgiving special, I've never had it
The dangerous part is I can Doordash this any time I want* *Within business hours Just know that Rochester is not a town really worth visiting by any means lol. Other than maybe Jetpack Comics. Dover and Portsmouth are next door though and are nice!
Got a pretty basic protein acai bowl but I am posting to give praise to the pistachio drizzle on top. I love pistachios so now I'm convinced I need the drizzle for home because it was perfect. Love that Dubai chocolate has helped popularize pistachios
We've been asked to bring a cherry pie to thanksgiving. On a scale of 1-10 how delusional would I be to try and make one when I've never baked a pie or made pie crust in my life? I'd just like... Follow the instructions, right??
second this, place really surprised me. And its deadly since I live like 10 min from here. We went on a Saturday afternoon earlier this summer and were legit the only people there. I figured there'd be people out the door with how good it was. Rochester has some great stuff if you know where to look tbh. Skeletone is a nice little record shop downtown directly across from Jetpack Comic, and theres some great multivendor antique shops in the area I hit up frequently (Union Street in particular, and 4 Corners just outside of downtown). For other good food I've had in town, theres a gastropub right downtown, a couple great Thai restaurants. Some of the best ice cream you'll find in the area is at Lone Oak too.
The Best, Easiest Cherry Pie Uses Fresh or Frozen Fruit I've made this cherry pie before and it's pretty easy and delicious. Stella Parks is my favorite dessert recipe writer
not sure if she has a recipe for the crust (if you don't wanna do premade), but for the filling, this is my mother's recipe (which she either got from a cookbook/magazine or possibly her mother, i don't remember). she's made it for decades now. go with Oregon Red Tart if using a canned cherry. tastes fantastic.
