It doesn't have "Times Like These," "Tired of You," "Disenchanted Lullaby" or "Low." Those might have been recorded later.
Probably because it has to do either with Kurt or Dave's divorce. That, and the Foos don't do a variety of deep cuts live.
TCATS was my favorite Foo album anyway, but once I read that Dave basically wrote it as a therapy session dealing with his divorce and then eventually falling in love with someone new and moving on, it made me appreciate it even more. I love that the first line of the album is the softly sung "You Know in all of the time that we've shared, I've never been so scared," and the last line of the album is just Dave screaming "I'm not scared!" It just feels so triumphant and cathartic.
I was reading a Rolling Stone article on the 20 year of TCATS and Dave noted that the album is basically describing his therapy sessions from the breakup to the recovery, with Doll and New Way Home bookending that
I need to read that. Hard to believe the album is 20 years old. Granted, it was already 10 years old when I fell in love with it.
I'll have to check these out after work. I have never heard them. I have heard some OBO era b-sides though. "Normal" is pretty good. I'm surprised "Win or Lose" didn't make it on there though. It's been around since the TINLTL sessions, and it definitely didn't fit in that album, but it was better suited to the OBO sound imo.
Damn, I love how much heavier and more aggressive the "Lonely As You" Demo was. It would have been right up there with the first several songs if they had kept it that way.
Keyboardist is now a permanent member now, it seems. Dave Grohl Confirms Rami Jaffe as Foo Fighters Member
Re-watched the documentary leading up to Wasting Light again recently. I'm not a huge fan of the band, I like songs here and there. But damn, do I respect the hell out Dave and this band. I really dig "Run," too.
fucking stupid how expensive that is, and i'm not even interested, lol also pisses me off how much of a monopoly IMP has over the DC/MD area
