My issue with modern day Foo is that all I ever see when listening to their music is Grohl’s face. I guess longevity and being massive will kinda do that. But there was a time when I could listen to them (about the first four albums) and the songs would paint a different picture in my head. Even though I was already familiar with seeing Grohl on MTV for awhile, I had yet to become wired to visualize them performing every time I heard them.
Nothing about the way he looks. Just some music hits different when I visualize it in a different way other than just seeing the band perform in my head.
I finally got to this album and it's... a Foo Fighters album. Some highlights and some songs I will rarely if ever revisit
Started watching the NPR Tiny Desk and immediately turned it off because Dave was using the garage rock microphone lol
Yeah, I listened to it once. I think I liked one song, but for the life of me can't recall what it was called or what it sounded like.
It's super lame that the "Of All People" video is X Games fan fiction and not a dramatization of the real story behind the song. You could've jumped back and forth between past and present timelines. One would have a 20-something character (a surrogate for Dave, basically) meeting the drug dealer who'd go on to kill friends of his, and the other is when he re-encounters the guy decades later.
I really hope in hindsight he realizes how bad "Child Actor" is. "DOA" should be a no brainer song in their set, one of my favorite singles of theirs.
Once this era is over, I would like Of All People to be the staple in the set, cuz to me it's by far the best song on the album
Wild that I have only listened to this album once. Nothing about it made me eager to return to it, and I've just reached for other things to listen to ever since.
