100%. They could/should have left it another 2/3 years between release. They have been so consistent in release timings.

Album wasn't as bad as I was expecting but I will probably never put it on again, for all I listen to them I have 3 albums of theirs I continue to enjoy with every listen.

For sure, this album is offensively inoffensive lol.

Meh. Maybe after a couple more listens I’ll enjoy it more? I dunno. This feels like such a noisy album without any hooks or melody.

Honestly, I’ve never been the biggest fan of “screamy Dave” unless it’s in a bridge like Monkey Wrench, Walk, Breakout, etc… I just get exhausted with his yelling and screaming throughout the course of an entire song.

Yea. I'm only given it a casual listen so far, but my initial thought was that this feels equivalent to Green Day's FOAM era, but at least this album can be considered listenable imo.

    Totally agree.

I think “Child Actor” sounds great. But those lyrics are certified ass.

The repeating of “turn the cameras off” seals it as the worst song on the album to me.

that shit is firmly in "none of my business" territory but I would need far more inspiring reports than these to check out a new foos in 2026

It's so strange to see how well received this album is in the general landscape and then come here to see everyone hate it. Total whiplash.

100% on the former. Got enough of my own business to deal with to spend energy caring about a man I don't know cheating on his wife.

I’ve noticed it has gotten some solid reviews. And I’m just like… what are these people hearing that I’m not? Or are these reviewers paid off by the label? I dunno. But this album ain’t it.

So I listened to it, and my initial impression is that it isn't a bad album. It's not their best album either, it's more a fun, loud, very "rocky" album that spins in the background while you're doing other things. Like, it wouldn't be the first album I pull but it also wouldn't be an album I'd ignore.

Some songs hit better than others. Actually, I'm finding the odd numbered tracks better than the even, although I might swap Spit Shine for Unconditional in that list. Strangely the album's giving me One By One vibes, and I don't know why.

Also find it weird they didn't opt to put Today's Song on here.

Each to their own, but I didn’t get One By One vibes at all. That album is filled with hooks and has always come across as a little mellow to me.

This feels mostly like Sonic Highways. Kinda got experimental in the studio after hitting all the right notes on the prior album. Short with bloated songs and kinda unfocused. I do agree it serves as solid background, doing some chores around the house type music. That would be my positive take for this album.

I don’t think this is nearly as bad as Father Of All… I was so fucking ready to throw in the towel on Green Day after that. It was such a stupid, unnecessary blemish on their legacy. I feel more like this Foo album is more of a “not my preferred Foo sound” than it is an absolute embarrassment.

I don't know if I agree with this take as nothing about this album feels experimental. If anything it feels a little lacking in that.

Also, funny story, I never heard Asking For A Friend all the way through until today.

Up until now, I'd only heard the clip that RateTheMusic uses when I take their survey, and I didn't know their clip started already partway into the chorus, so my brain's already been trained to think about the chorus going a certain way, and now the actual song is throwing me off.

All of you doing the work of listening to this critically are doing the rest of us a real favour tbh. I do have a certain grim interest in dave grohl's music but not enough to listen to the middling stuff

I have to believe a real producer would've suggested he include a counter lyric or melody. He learned the wrong lesson from "Best of You."
