The Ilan-Josh swap is my Luka-AD. I genuinely can't wait to see what Ilan does with the FF material, the dude is a drumming genius.

    Aaaachem!

Every time they tell Ilan's history and don't mention Denver Harbor and Will Salazar it makes me sad.

I’ve only heard his work for the Paramore album but I was really impressed with how creative he was. It still felt like Paramore too. It can’t be an easy thing to do; push things forward yet maintain the DNA of the albums that came before.

So the consensus is that this guy is more involved in song writing than Freese? A likely upgrade? Freese has always just felt like a temporary guy in all his bands. I dunno.

You're probably right, and it also makes sense that Freese would go back to being a hired gun for Nine Inch Nails.

100%. You can really hear the influence he brought on the last two AVA records where he challenged Tom to think outside the box a bit.

I mean Ilan has been in groups with more problematic lead singers.

But I can see Ilan being a positive asset with songwriting.

Besides his drumming, I would say it's his ability to do background vocals like Taylor used to do. Pat and Nate stepped in to do harmonies with Chris, and they (Pat and Nate) shouldn't be anywhere near a microphone in that capacity.

    hmmm

Ilan's the tightest drummer I've ever seen live.
