How do we all feel about Something From Nothing and also that maybe Feast and the Famine should've been the first single or at least a single?
I don't know, l really dig about 4-5 songs on that album, but none of them really sound like lead singles to me, certainly not in the mold of The Pretender or Best of You, etc. I really dug Sky Is a Neighborhood on the last album, that sounds like a big single to me. Maybe the only song from that album, Sonic Highways, or what I've heard from this one, that fits the mold in my mind
that album's alright but it's biggest issue is the lack of a real single/hooks. the forced concept kinda stymied the writing.
I always think I like Sonic Highways less than I do when I go listen to it. It doesn't have a killer standout, but it's an enjoyable hang. I like it a lot more than the last album.
Yeah, I think the only songs I don't care for as much are "What Did I Do/God As My Witness" and "In the Clear," but I don't think they're bad songs either. Certainly stronger than this most recent single. I'll take inspired? forced? songwriting over whatever this is.
The What Did I Do part is great! My least fav is probably I Am a River because it's so repetitive. Honestly? I love Congregation and it bangs live.
ha those are 2 of my faves. What Did I do and I Am A River are the best 2 for me. In the Clear good too
I need to rewatch the series. Bought it on Blu-ray because I liked it so much, but I don't think I've watched it since it was released
Yeah I really want to rewatch Sonic Highways Also I'm not really a big fan of the new song. Is this whole album gonna be boring besides No Son of Mine?
“Congregation” is so good. Would have loved them to pursue that sound more. And I love “I Am a River” despite the repetition. Beyond those two, “Something from Nothing” is probably my third favorite from that album.
So they played 2 of the new songs on kimmel. Love the build up on waiting for a war. Hawkins goes hard on the drums for the 30 seconds of so at the end of the song. No son of mine was recorded the same night as the Colbert Shame shame performance but for some reason was sent to kimmel
I Am A River's repetition stops it from being an excellent song. I think Outside is my favourite from that album, quality track.
Yeah, I’m actually really into this. My biggest takeaway so far is that there were some weird single choices. I genuinely think I like 4 or 5 of the non-singles more than all 3 of the singles they chose... and it’s only a 9-song album, so basically I like almost everything else more.
