I like a lot of the songs on In Your Honor, but I do think it is my least favorite (I really like half of Sonic Highways)
Echoes and Sonic Highways are my bottom two. By a far margin too. I just did not enjoy them during my discog run. Obviously there are some highpoints, but yeah....haha. I think Concrete and Gold gets overlooked and forgotten about for some reason. Run and Sky is a Neighborhood are brilliant damn songs. Run still gives me goosebumps every damn time. I've also always thought there was a little bit of Arctic Monkey's seeping through on some tracks, like Arrows and Sunday Rain for example. The title track is straight up Pink Floyd too. It's super cool.
Echoes is in my top 5. I wasn’t crazy about In Your Honor, so it felt like a nice bounce back to more traditional Foo stuff for me. Long Road To Ruin is one of my favorite singles ever. Total dad rock vibes and I'm all for it.
Echoes needs a couple more rockers but it’s good. a condensed version of In Your Honor would be my fourth favorite Foos record.
I've never been able to get into IYH as a full album but No Way Back is one of my all time favorite songs by them
yo know... when they released those ep's on spotify a year or so ago with rare tracks, i was legit hoping for a high quality version of 'bangin'. very simple song, but it's becoming one of my top ten tracks from them.
Their only album I don't really really dig is Concrete and Gold. It just has too many misses for me. Even Sonic Highways is way ahead of it, for me.
Yeah, this is my take too. It's not BAD, I just think it's mostly pretty boring. Always felt like a bit of a b-sides record for me.
To be fair, Sky is a Neighborhood is top notch. But for a band that has had a great career of very consistently good albums, this one sticks out. Sonic Highways, I used to not like very much, but has very much grown on me. It's also only 8 songs but I really like about 5 of them. The newest album is quite a bit better than both Concrete and Sonic
I enjoy a lot of the songs on their own, but taken together, that album just always loses me. I get a lot more out of Sonic Highways. And I genuinely loved Medicine at Midnight.
For some reason the lyrics on Medicine at Midnight feel like their most childish for me, particularly Cloudspotter and Waiting On a War.
I just looked at the tracklist and I genuinely can't remember how about half of those songs sound. It just never grabbed me in any meaningful way. Glad others like it though.
