for the annual 'in memorium' segment, please have dave play an acoustic version of 'everlong'. or 'times like these'.
Yeah, how about we give the guy some time to properly grieve like a human being before making him dance for our entertainment under the guise of "respectful mourning".
I don’t think Dave will jump out and do a performance right away like the Stones have. I agree he shouldn’t, he has gotta take some time to grieve. It’s only been a few days and I’m feeling like it’s been forever since Dave has had time to acknowledge this and make a statement but I’m so off because of the constant news cycle. Gotta chill out on this for a long while.
I’m sure this whole thing is bringing up a lot of hard emotions/memories for him from nearly 30 years ago. Couldn’t imagine
The Grammys are this Sunday, correct? My guess is most performers will need to fly-in and rehearse as early as today or tomorrow for Sunday's show. There's no way Dave/Foos are doing that. Nor should they.
Wow. Was not expecting the ending of this video. https://www.reddit.com/r/Foofighter...urce=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
At the most, they could have friends of Taylor pay tribute, like Perry, Alanis, Coheed, Slash, Ozzy, etc. EDIT: Changed the should to could.
I still think asking grieving friends to perform a week after he's dead is still pretty ... too soon.
Yeah "they should" is a weird way to word it. If they want to pay tribute, let em do it on their own will and not because some award show wants them to...
Much different scale and circumstances then this (still a death though), but anymore remember when Bayside was in a car accident on tour and their drummer died? Anthony and Jack went on and did an acoustic tour two months afterwards while the bassist and some crew were recovering from surgery. It was suuuuuuper emotional for them and fans. I was at the last show that turned into their dvd and acoustic EP. The two dudes just hugged and cried it out at the end of the set. This whole Taylor tragedy takes me back to that time when John Beatz passed.
Just heard My Hero on the radio and I know he didn't play drums on it, but still such a powerful song
I’ve been trying to think of how to word this without it coming off as putting the attention on me, as I mean it more of “growing up sucks” kind of thing but the last few months, hell, few weeks have seen Taylor Hawkins, Bob Saget and Scott Hall die. All three were celebrities I knew about or had some connection to my life whether from the music I listened to shows I watched and it’s still surreal that those are real people that can pass away. Of course I always knew that and there are others that have passed away before this year of course but like, thinking back to when I was in elementary school and watched Full House, or in the middle school and watched wrestling or in high school becoming a Foo Fighters fan it’s still shocking that people from those times are beginning to pass away. TLDR; cliche of when you’re little you think nothing bad will happen and people live forever or you forever see them as you did when you were younger and then you grow up and realize they’re just people and that they will pass away and it sucks to realize and be reminded of that.
I've been aware for quite some time that he didn't record on that album, but it's impossible for me not to think of him as the drummer when I hear those songs. Especially since he was in all the music videos.
Man, what a nice mellow jam this song is. Always was my favorite song on the acoustic disc of In Your Honor. I love this performance.
