Just said this in the band thread too but I highly recommend checking Dave out on the new episode of Conan's podcast, super funny and interesting
Dave's story about ending up in the hospital after drinking too much caffeine is too relatable. I had a similar experience in college when I thought I was dying but really my heart just was freaking out from 10 cups of coffee and two hours of sleep haha.
Yeah I don't think the funk/R&B elements really work for me here, but I've come around on "Making a Fire"
The album is decent. I like it MILES better than Concrete and Gold. I still think overall it fits in the bottom third of their album rankings, but I enjoy it when I listen to it. The biggest disappointment to me in the last few albums is that Grohl used to write all those big rock anthems like clockwork, every album, and it seems like he doesn't have any more "hits" in him. I don't need "hits" for most bands, but for the Foos I feel like I do. Add a song like The Pretender to this album and I think it would be more well regarded.
