Listened to Echoes, Sonic Highways, and C&G yesterday. It really just made me appreciate this new album even more. Aside from a handful of songs, those three albums just don’t do it front to back for me. “Run” is still one of my all time favorite Foo Fighters songs though. Also, they definitely should’ve released Cloudspotter first/before Shame Shame. Shame Shame is my least favorite song on the new album lol.
idk man, Echoes is up there, its chock full of great songs. The Pretender through Come Alive is a crazy good run. Personally I'd maybe cut like 2 songs on the back half and it would be pretty damn close to WL level good.
Thats why I’ve never really been that into it. The whole acoustic/electric mix takes me out of it. Not that it sounds bad bc it doesn’t....I just don’t vibe to it much.
I'm gonna check in on this album tomorrow, but the band hasn't resonated with me since Wasting Light, which actually may overall be my favorite FF album.
I have low expectations, which are even lower after hearing Shame Shame. I thought Concrete and Gold was mostly bad. I hope I'm wrong and this surprises.
I've listened to the 30 second clips they've posted every day of each song, and tbh, it doesn't ramp up my interest much, but nonetheless, feel obligated to give it a shot. Obviously tough to judge anything on a snippet.
it's wild that Shame Shame really doesn't stand out as an obvious "first single" From this at all, yet it's the song Dave wanted people to hear first for a reason. (as he said in one of the SiriusXM interview things on their channel that just launched).
The album grows on me with every listen. I always skip over "Chasing Birds" though. That song kind of sucks and goes nowhere. Dave just isn't great at writing acoustic ballads.
Didn't realize this was out tonight, not feeling great based on the singles but I'm sure I'll find some charm to it
This was not a highly anticipated album for me after hearing the singles. Then hearing the rest of the album changed it for me so much that I pre-ordered the vinyl lol.
I got halfway through this last night and was not a fan. Hoping the subsequent listens provide much more joy.
