Dave's acoustic songs are always good. A friend of mine contends that his best work is acoustic-based. Regardless, I hope he does another acoustic album a la In Your Honour. The acoustic record crushed the rock record.
The rock disc is horrendous. "End Over End" and "The Last Song" still make me cringe. "Free Me" is the only song I still play. The acoustic disc? Absolutely perfect.
after a few listens, this is a great album and i enjoy it a lot. the first 5 songs are immediate as most people have noted. but, i really like "Dirty Water", and i've come around to "Sunday Rain" as well even though it feels a little out of place. the only ones i'm not sold on quite yet are Arrows/Happy Ever After.
Yeah I've gotta say I enjoy this one all the way through. Wasn't expecting to like Sunday Rain but I really do. Huge improvement over Sonic Highways for me.
Liked this a lot after 2 listens. Hard to say where it sits in the discography for me but it's a huge leap in quality from Sonic Highways. That opening 1-2 is great, also love Happy Ever After.
But "No Way Back" and "DOA" and "Resolve" though :( There definitely is some eh stuff in the rock disc, but there is also some really good stuff on there too. The acoustic disc isn't bad by any means, I just get bored with it easily. Acoustic slower stuff only holds my attention for short bursts of time.
Truly don't get the hate for Sonic Highways Maybe because the first time I heard every song was at the end of each episode of the series? Made it seem more special
For me, seeing every song at the end of the episode made me think about how ham-fisted the lyrics were.
I can't stop listening to this album. I love how prominent the harmonies are. Favorites right now are T-Shirt/Run, La Dee Da, Arrows, Happy Ever After, and The Line.
I cannot believe someone just called Wasting Light "NASCAR Rock" Anyways, I put on C&G the other day on the interstate and went into a time warp for the entirety of my drive. Couldn't tell you how I got from point A to point B, I was that in the zone. Second listen I was a bit more lukewarm on but it's a real good listen so far overall.
Wasting Light is my favorite album from them, it's not even close. C&G is crawling up the list. I'm digging it a lot and the more I listen to their other albums, the more I realize how different this one is.
Listened to this for the first time last night and then again on my commute today and... seems like another Foo Fighters album where I only really return to the singles unfortunately. Run, The Line and especially The Sky is a Neighborhood are fantastic songs but they're by far the most memorable on here for me. I really wish I liked their full albums more
The only songs that I haven't been able to really get on board with are "Happily Ever After" and "Sunday Rain". Really enjoying everything else on there.
