I like Sonic Highways more than most. I also like Concrete and Gold more than Medicine at Midnight, Echoes, and One by One but agree that it's just okay. Bottom five for sure.
Yeah, only bright spots of Sonic Highways are the first two songs. Can’t believe how bad it fumbled a Ben Gibbard guest appearance.
Outside on Sonic Highways is still a favorite to me. I also have a soft spot for that record because it was paired with a better documentary. That said, Something from Nothing is in contention for least favorite Foo song.
I think Wasting Light is up there w Color and the Shape and There’s Nothing Left to Lose which is pretty incredible based on how late in their career it was released…even more amazing I think their latest is probably the best since then
Controversial take: every Foo album is great. Some are better than others, but even their worst is better than many bands' best.
I like the ending, don't get me wrong, but it's such a slog to get there. He pretty much repurposed his "Skin and Bones" riff/progression for that song, and I love the former.
Yeah they're an all around great band and every release is pretty solid but C&G is the only record I listened to where I was like "yeah..........this is pretty mid."
There Is Nothing Left To Lose is the best one start to finish Concrete is by far the worst Sonic Highways is lower tier but FAR NORTH of Concrete
just walked out of work with "Aurora" in my earbuds and got greeted with the coolest fucking sunrise ever, could not have timed that visual-audio combo better. man I love that song
