Listened to Echoes the other day. Love the first four songs and then it drops off the steepest cliff for me. Just boring mainly
I love the Norah Jones feature on IYH. Maybe the best Foo collaboration because they actually adopted the guest artist’s style.
This is def their best in a while, most of them drop hard after the singles, most all these songs are immediately memorable. production bites the big one
I can hear what people are referring to, but I don't think the production is THAT bad. Mostly sounds like an intentional choice that either works or doesn't work depending on who's listening
wow, im in love with this album. Sonically, i feel like this could have released between TCATS and TINLTL. No misses.
Very solid album. Definitely my favorite since Wasting Light. Sonic Highways / Medicine At Midnight had no staying power with me after a week or 2 (Concrete + Gold just never clicked for me) I can see this staying in the rotation a ton more this year. Rock on.
I get the In Your Honor criticisms, but I love that acoustic disc so much. Some dynamite songs recorded beautifully.
I relistened to Medicine at Midnight today - it’s funkier than I remember. Solid album, just doesn’t have the BIG SINGLES that their best ones have and also Shame Shame was such a bad first single choice. Does that song even have a chorus?
I think they really wanted to push Medicine as their "dance" album and that fed into choosing "Shame Shame".
Listening to MAM again recently, I think Making a Fire is still the best single option. Honestly not sure what else I’d pick.
I have listened to nothing but this album since Friday. I am pretty much completely on board with every single song now. The title track is definitely my least favorite though. I was initially underwhelmed with The Teacher but am really digging it now. I prefer the second half of the song to the first half, but admittedly the build up of the first half into the second half is well worth it. Rest is just a killer way to end the album, an absolute shot to the gut. Hearing Voices, The Glass, Nothing at All, Rest and Under You are probably my top 5 but Beyond Me and The Teacher are right there too. Show Me How has been a huge grower. These are easily their best batch of 8 songs in a decade plus. Rescued is still kind of run of the mill Foos for me. Nothing special, but nothing harmful either. Hoping that and the title track continue to grow on me but it’s fun having a meaningful Foos album again.
"The Teacher" and "Rest" weren't as immediate for me as they appear to have been for most, but I'm definitely into them now. I echo the sentiments of this being their best since Wasting Light, but I definitely still prefer the former overall.
i knew medicine at midnight was going to be a bad time for me when i put it on and just straight up hated "making a war"
I love "Making a Fire," one of the tracks I love on an album I'm not in love with. Also "Something From Nothing" is great
