Best album since Wasting Light for sure. Minimal "BIG RAWK" moments that I feel like bogged down Sonic Highways and Concrete And Gold. I actually liked Medicine At Midnight but the singles were among the weakest songs on there. This new one has a, understandable, greater emotional heft too it.
album is way more in the vein of “show me how” and “the teacher” than the other singles, and thank god. production reminds me of siamese dream at points. premature to call this their best since there is nothing left to lose, but it feels like it :) loooove the title track
This is amazing. Def their best record in the last 20 plus years. It’s very close with wasting light. But I like this more
this is a really cool mix of their sounds so far. Hearing Voices kinda sounds like Medicine at Midnight but it's way better
oh ok yeah Show Me How is the one. glad I didn't listen to it as a single it's such a lovely leftfield turn in sequence
not everything here hits but that last four song run is some of their best ever work. pretty astonishing, the last few lines of Rest are an absolute gut punch
open hi-hat is giving a little static yeah but i think it sounds cool folded into everything else "beyond me" is like if a power ballad by heart were also a shoegaze song
I'm a Foo apologist, I unabashedly love One by One, so I put this up above their last one for me on first listen (which I also liked a whole lot). Very very good. Will be getting many more spins.
What's cool about the last line of the record is that it applies to both Virginia Grohl and Taylor. Of course, Dave's mother raised him in the Virginia sun, but one of his fondest memories with Taylor was making There's Nothing to Left to Lose in Virginia and enjoying the summer weather together.
Listening in lossless and Dolby atmos makes this even better. Never noticed to outro change on hearing voices listening to it earlier. Also god damn the glass, beyond me and rest. All in the feels
I mean, it's the record that nearly broke up the band. I don't blame him for being indifferent towards it.
Why does this sound like a wall of compression and distortion on Apple Music? I don’t recall the pre-release tracks sounding so compressed. Content wise, I really like it and after hearing the rest of the tracks, id consider it a sibling to In Your Honor, which I love. Under You Title Track Nothing At All Beyond Me love them most after first listen. Edit: Oh, it was Dolby Atmos that was on. Wow! what a difference with it off! The tracks instantly gained more clarity and natural volume with it off.
i expected this to be great off the quality of the singles but i’m just shocked with how great it actually is
