album is good. last escape is peak. saw fleshwater, vein, living weapon, and koyo play a one off in jacksonville maybe three years ago in a 100 cap room. probably after FYA. insane lineup. love fleshwater but anticipating vein's next move always.
I've cooled on this just a tad but still really enjoy it. It's tough to top something like WNHTBL tho. Stoked to catch them on tour later this month. Has anyone been to any stops so far?
I’m gonna try to go to the Boston date. Sadly I haven’t had any desire to return to this after my first listen.
Sundown is probably one of my favorite songs of the past month. Was jamming this still for a while but now other releases have taken over.
Their songs hit harder live. Maybe seeing them next week will reinvigorate my love for them. I just love Vein so much that any other project release from this group is underwhelming.
Anyone interested in half price tix for show in cville tomorrow? Got a friend looking to get rid of 2.
I've seen a lot of growing acts lately that alleviate the heavy lifting of actually performing their songs to a backing track, so they can focus on "the performance" (aka trying to look cool) aspect of the show. Considering the backing tracks consisted of easy to play guitar instrumentals and their having three guitarists, shit like this is disappointing. Meanwhile, Chat Pile's one guitarist is damn near carrying the sound of the band live on his back. Live shows lately have been really bumming me out lol
I suppose it's not a surprising element for them to implement, considering Vein had a DJ on stage every time I saw them, but most of it could have been easily accomplished with the instruments they had. An example being the beginning of Drowning Song. The whole intro was a backtrack. I understand using a quick track to tune up, transition, readjust, whatever but this was not the case.
I didn't pay enough attention (or the backing track didn't bother me for Fleshwater; it has in other cases) but yes, Luther is great and Chat Pile rules.
If their whole set was tracked, you’d be right with that assessment but… a guitar track sometimes throughout? Cmon
The initial comment was a generalized complaint of performances I've seen lately (ranging from growing hardcore bands to pop acts). Fleshwater just so happened to sorta fall into that category
Fleshwater probably aren't even top 500 bands where over-reliance on tracks is a problem gimme a fuckin break
