Really good record, really interesting record

Feel like they might lose a bunch of the tiktok kiddies with this one that got on for the Deftones vibes, I wouldn’t call this a hard right turn but there’s not that much pop songwriting going on here this is a very pure 90s style adult post hardcore album a la Far and Handsome e.g.

Either way very refreshing to hear a band that clearly does not give a shit about sounding like anything other than what they want to

the first four songs are so good, I hope it can keep up this quality. I really love her vocals on here, they cut through the noise so well.

I still don't like the guy singing though, it's a slight buzzkill any time he shows up.

It takes a bit of a dip in the middle with Be Your Best/Jerome Town back to back but Sundown/Raging Storm makes up for it.

Last couple of songs are nice but I do think it peaks with those first four sadly. Still very good overall and I think it's an improvement over their first. I feel like they'll always be a bit hampered for me though as long as they have the guy taking lead vocals, especially on the closers. Ahh well.

I totally forgot this was coming out today. Another strong release day with multiple artists releasing new stuff (Big Thief, La Dispute etc).

I like this a lot. A lot of parts really remind me of Vein.

  22. I’m a few songs in and it sounds great. I don’t remember their first album resonating with me so I’ll have to go back and check that out.

That would be cool, not sure if it would make sense financially or audience wise. I assume Marisa is gonna be part of Vein and not sure what the drumming situation is overall for Vein/FW. I could see both playing a hardcore fest next year though.

Speaking of drumming, the guy from Pianos kills it on here. Really cool, interesting parts where he just cooks. Second listen of this is even better, Anthony’s vocals sound better here than the last record and I think it feels more cohesive and realizes as a project. I could see why casual fans who got on the Deftones-TikTok sound train wouldn’t get this at all, it’s pulling from way other sounds (Thursday is one that I think is pretty prominent.)
