if I'm not listening to this album it's playing in my head anyways. Woke up with "Can I Believe You" in my head and instantly had to put the album on.
Listening to this on the way home from work last night, I hit a foggy patch that lasted nearly the entire duration of I’m Not My Season, and I think it’s going to prove to be THE music moment of 2020 for me.
Chris Bear is one of the best drummers in indie rock, no doubt. That song is essentially Fleet Foxes ft Grizzly Bear.
This is such a peaceful, beautiful album to usher in the fall season. I can’t get over it. Took it on a walk with coffee this AM and it was perfect.
After a few days I think this is my “least” favorite FF album.....and it’ll probably make my top 10 year end list. They are just insanely consistent. I think the P4K alluded to it the best but this record is the beautiful balmy sandy beach and Crack-Up was the craggy windswept coast on the other side of the same island. I prefer the complexities And song suites of Crack-Up, but this one fills a different need. The other 2 inhabit the wilderness that separates those two coasts.
Have you anyone watched that set from p4k fest a couple years ago? This is one of the best vocal performances I’ve ever heard
I’ve definitely seen parts of it. Not sure if I’ve seen the entire thing. I saw them in Indy a few years ago (same year as P4K) and it was one of the worst sounding sets I’ve ever heard. Not their fault. The venue was trash.
I feel like there's an extent to which you're just describing the album art here Also resisted the urge to make a shore pun in this post but don't test me
this album is such an instant bad mood cure, I'm really starting to love it belting out the chorus to "Young Man's Game" >>>>
Agreed. Shore is a bit too sugary and Beach Boys for my taste. Still good overall, but doesn't feel as fresh as FF did and not as challenging as Helplessness Blue or Crack Up.
Yes possibly. But really it comes down to one being the complex, darker, moodier record and the other being the balmy, pretty, poppier record. Probably why the respective album art reflects those polarities.
Might be mine too, though I'm a super casual fan. I loved self-titled back in the day, but skipped out on the other two after that for reasons unknown. But I played self-titled today for the first time in awhile and it felt so flat compared to this.
I definitely like this better than Crack-Up after spending some time with it this weekend. I don't love it on the level of their first two yet, though.
Yeah think I'm ready to say Shore is already my favorite of theirs, and I say that as someone who feels "Montezuma" is one of the greatest album openers ever.
Helplessness Blues Shore Fleet Foxes Crack-Up I love all of these albums dearly. Wouldn't argue with anyone's ranking..
