Cool. I didn't know how much info we had about the album. I definitely don't feel like I've kept up or heard alot about it.
He just responded during the live feed "solo album writing session" Whatever it was, it was beautiful of course
I've been listening to a lot of FF/white antelope in anticipation and I'm pretty sure I can say that Helplessness Blues is my second favorite record ever made
Does anyone prefer the debut to HB at this point? Curious because HB has always been miles ahead of the first record for me
I do. I have such fond memories of that first album though, that's honestly a huge part of it for me. And HB came in a bit of a dark spot in my life, I didn't even listen to it until about two years later.
This makes sense. It can sometimes have the reverse effect too. 2015 was the worst year of my life but now I'll mainly just remember how fantastic the return of BI was
I definitely think HB is miles ahead. Not to insult the s/t which also has a place in my top 10 records ever. S/t has a bit of a "modern indie" bite but HB feels absolutely timeless.
Also fairly confident in saying that LP3 will be the pinnacle of this band. Can't say how excited I am that a solo Robin/white antelope w/e album will follow it
See, I think the exact opposite. S/T seems so genuine and true to whatever period it was he was trying to capture. HB sounds much more modern to me, both lyrically and musically. I think I'm one of the few that prefers S/T. It's a perfect record for me. HB is not far off, though.
I definitely prefer s/t, I've always felt that HB was a re-tread of that album too much. There are more than a few songs that really show progress, but overall it seemed like a clone of the first
I've seen both albums held in really high regard critically. I haven't noticed an overt consensus that one was greater than the other. I think they both made it on p4k best of the decade.
