I heard Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, and The Tallest Man On Earth all for the first time within the span of a few months. Life changing, and probably my 3 favorite bands/artists ever.
When I used to go to Best Buy to find CDs, HB had just come out and I bought that with their self titled. Listened to the s/t over and over. Took me a while to make the transition over to HB but around 2013 I remembered I still had it unopened. Hooked after that.
i'm still waiting for the album to drop proper haha. how's this holding up for everyone who has been listening for a couple weeks now?
It only continues to get better. When I'm not listening to it, all I want to do is get back to it. There's a lot packed in here to unfurl and it is not immediately catchy. But this album contains some of the more interesting melodies I've ever heard. Even though I loved it on first listen, it's the definition of a grower (not a show-er). Probably my favorite of theirs, now. And I think it'll go down as one of my all time favorites.
Agreed with all of this. It gets catchier with every listen and there's certain points that involve the coolest melodies I've ever heard. Like "I was a child in the ivy then I never knew you, you knew me" from Thumbprint Scar and "Who stole the life from you? Who turned you so against you? Who was the thief who shaved your teeth Accepting just virtue" from Naiads, Cassadies and ESPECIALLY "And the bright red eye isn't off yoUuUuU yeEeEt" from Crack-Up
Anybody who's heard it enough knows exactly what I'm talking about with the melodies he uses during parts of those stanzas
I'm all about those tasty bits. My favorites from Another Ocean "wherever you ruuuuuuun, you see all you leave behind you" then when the lyric changes to "wherever you ruuuuun, you see only eyes behind you"
Crazy how stripped back this album is and how I guess... sprawling it is. Not something I immediately feel like I love but there's nothing I dislike and it'll certainly reveal more as I give it more listens
It was up on youtube but I guess it got taken down. Still up on facebook though: Edit: Obviously didn't embed, but you can watch it on facebook.
Just bought a ticket for Chicago before they sold out. Decided to pay a bit more to get down on the mezzanine as opposed to the back of the balcony since floor tickets are gone at this point. Anyone else going to that date?
