Yo! Can’t believe they picked this over some of the other stuff coming this week but that’s sick. Thought for sure Snail Mail would be album of the week. Flasher's 'Constant Image' Album Review: DC Indie Band's Debut Is Our Album Of The Week
This is a week full of great albums, and it breaks my heart a little bit to not be writing about the new Snail Mail, or the new Yob, or the new serpentwithfeet. Those are all great, great records. I love them all. But only one of this week’s albums feels like it alters my entire brain chemistry every time the next chorus hits, and that’s Constant Image. damn
This is up there w hop along for most immediate record of the year. Super stoked I am seein them once right before and once right after this comes out
ridiculous that this is a debut. it feels so THEM. tbh this is one of the most singularly arresting albums i've heard in some time and to me, it seems like a record almost anybody could get down with. it's post-punk, but not overly abrasive; melodic, but unconventional in its melodic structure; emotional, but far from cloying; urgent, but not aggressive; a fifth example. can't think of anybody else who's straddling as many lines as this band is, hell of a way to kick things off. seeing them soon and cannot wait
closer of the year too btw. “What’s the worst thing you’ve ever done?” the way the sax mirrors the double snare hit on the 4 makes me feel a lot
I heard "Sun Come and Golden" over the summer and liked it but I just got around to listening to the whole album and I've been missing out. Feel like this record is getting slept on.
