La La Land is great but most of the criticisms against it were valid, or at least understandable

It just dawned on me that if this came out 9 months later it would be the 50th anniversary

Seeing this in 15 minutes, bummed my screening isn't doing on one of their IMAX(ish) screens

I really hope Chazelle can three-peat with this, Whiplash and La La Land are some of my favorite films.

I’m curious to see what more people think. Some of my friends who rate La La Land as a masterpiece/one of the best of 2016 thought it was a disappointment, but I think it’s easily his best film.

This was great. Loved how claustrophobic and rickety it felt. Outside of it being about another guy who pursued his obsession to a crazy degree, I would never guess this was directed by Chazelle.

  13. Ya this was great. There's some energy to the directing/cinematography for the earthbound stuff, but the flight sequences are where this movie really shines. Incredible stuff. I also really liked the score that kicked in for the final act.

The score is fantastic as expected from Justin. “Docking waltz” and “the Armstrongs” in particular.

This had some great stuff and some okay stuff. Everything on the moon was pretty great though.

    beautiful and chequered, the end

this was one of the most claustrophobic films ive ever seen. that mid movie take off sequence is so well done

something felt off for the first half hour or so for me but it took off (hee hee) after that.

visually astounding and great preformances all around.

    chazelle for life.

  22. I was surprised at the box office numbers. I know this isn’t supposed to be a popcorn space flick but I thought it would be stronger. Maybe it’ll have long legs.

This could’ve been a run of the mill, Apollo 13–esque, feel good movie. Which would’ve been fine and mostly forgettable.

But instead it was a real exploration of a family, particularly Neil, dealing with a tragedy.

    Executed brilliantly I might add.

    Astounding.
