From Wikipedia: A demitasse is a small cup used to serve Turkish coffee or espresso. A demitasse typically has a capacity of approximately 60–90 ml —half the size of a full coffee cup. They are typically ceramic and accompanied by matching saucers, but some coffeehouses and china companies also produce brightly decorated varieties.
Kinda hope I’m wrong on what this could mean here but, a “cup of coffee” in sports/baseball terms is just a quick stint at the top level before being sent back down to the lower (minor) leagues. So, brief, temporary. Cup of coffee - Wikipedia
that picture and the date it was taken is super interesting. in 1916, prilep was near the balkan front of WW1, and the orthodox imagery on the site background would tie into that. Turkish coffee in demitasses would've been super widespread in the area (as it is now) too. I haven't had a chance to read the lyrics, but questions like "are you too busy for war" ties into that in the sense that people living in that town at that time probably didn't know that they were in the middle of a conflict that would radically change the world.
I’m at work so I can’t listen, but these guys coming back and moving away from pop punk would be great. Higher Lonely Power is a great album name, I’d be more excited if they changed their band name to that. Really get a fresh start.
Gospel is easily my number one in favorite albums of the 2010s. About to put on OCL I think. Cold and rainy here today.
There’s one lyric I can’t make out but this song is hitting all the right chords with me. Does anyone know what comes between “Spent the night at the hospital around the Fourth of July” and “You can’t come around. Just like a cicada, living underground”
There is so much going on in this song. Keys, the female vocals, different percussion effects... man. So wild.
