Kinda hope I’m wrong on what this could mean here but, a “cup of coffee” in sports/baseball terms is just a quick stint at the top level before being sent back down to the lower (minor) leagues. So, brief, temporary.

The location in the picture is Prilep, Macedonia. The year it was taken is supposedly 1916.

 

Whether or not it's true, I respect the research skills here

that picture and the date it was taken is super interesting. in 1916, prilep was near the balkan front of WW1, and the orthodox imagery on the site background would tie into that. Turkish coffee in demitasses would've been super widespread in the area (as it is now) too. I haven't had a chance to read the lyrics, but questions like "are you too busy for war" ties into that in the sense that people living in that town at that time probably didn't know that they were in the middle of a conflict that would radically change the world.

I’m at work so I can’t listen, but these guys coming back and moving away from pop punk would be great.

Higher Lonely Power is a great album name, I’d be more excited if they changed their band name to that. Really get a fresh start.

This song is INSANE, holy shit.

 

This has caused me to revisit Gospel in full and my god I am nostalgic.

 

Gospel is easily my number one in favorite albums of the 2010s. About to put on OCL I think. Cold and rainy here today.

 

Not a big fan of 3/4ths of the new song, but very glad Fireworks is back. What a week, huh?

 

There’s one lyric I can’t make out but this song is hitting all the right chords with me.

Did Fireworks ever actually break up? Was it listed as a hiatus?
