The worst time was when they announced their reunion in 2019, and then everything went completely dark until 2023, I wonder how different things would have played out if Covid didn’t happen.
I love Higher Lonely Power but there is something so impressive and special about Demitasse. I feel like Machines Kept You Alive is the only song that reaches that height on the album (it’s still really really fucking good, don’t get me wrong)
That always confused me, because it was used in the teaser of the album. It also works incredibly well as an intro
Fuckin absolutely PSYCHED. My good pal was at the Detroit gig. He's coming back to England to visit later in year and grabbed me a postcard.
I mean it takes my excitement from a 10 to a 9 I suppose but I'm still stoked. Super weird of the venue to pull a little slight of hand like that.
I went from being at a 10 to work calling me in last minute for an emergency and hoping I get to the show in time to see at least half the set. If anyone knows the set times please let me know!
They were playing it live on tour and it’s so pretty and haunting. So good. I’ve been meaning to press the Oh Common Life sessions to vinyl for years now, probably would have to be trimmed a bit for a 7”. I messaged Dave asking if that’d be a dick thing to do and he didn’t seem to mind. More of a “I want to have these for completionists sake” than anything else.
I think other people have posted but if you need tix I have three extra ones with me for the show tonight
SPACED said on IG that they go on at 8, if that helps! I'll keep an eye out for the rest, but I could see Fireworks going on at like 9:30 or something
thanks for keeping an eye out! I literally walked in as fireworks was setting up. IT RULED. THE CROWD WAS SO LOUD. FIREWORKS FOREVER.
I wanted that Fireworks set to be twice as long but that has to be my favorite of the 3 times i've seen them. I saw them in Detroit when they opened for the Wonder Years a few years ago and the crowd wasn't as crazy as tonight. Love this band, love this city (don't love that I had to wait 1.5 hours at Union Station to take the 12:40 train back to suburbia)
“Welcome to Grief Camp” the whole concept of a grief camp falls perfectly in line with Fireworks lyrical content. Gotta be new stuff coming “soon”.
Yeah that was wild. I shouldn’t be crowd surfing as a 34 year old but that manifested twice last night lmao
I asked them about this at the merch table when they opened one of The Greatest Generation tours (at the time, the song wasn't even on Bandcamp) and they said that they felt it didn't fit on the record production-wise. I told them they were crazy then and I still believe it now, and I don't listen to the record without listening to that track first.
That’s awesome - I wonder if someone got the bottom lounge set on video always torn between recording on my phone and actually participating. This time I chose the later.
I so rarely go back and watch concert videos on my phone, and don't post much on social media anymore. The past few concerts I might've taken one "proof of concert" video each, but I tell you, it's freeing to just sit (or stand) and enjoy the moment.
