Let the poster raise awareness about that shithole wherever they want, anyone here can take it or leave it. If it doesn't bother you and affect your enjoyment of Fireworks, cool, but they should be able to post about it. Try and have some civilized conversations for fucks sake.

See you in hell, or see you when I see you. Prestigious

Just to clarify, this isn't what they're talking about at all. OhTheWater is raising awareness about an absolute POS called JJR and the fact that people from this band are somehow still friends with him.

Seems like it's important that we're still having these conversations huh

Fireworks is barely even a bad band anymore and some of y’all are still telling people to shut up when those people keep bringing attention to the fact that Fireworks happily associates with JJR and a rapist

Really sad, yet unsurprising, to see the ignorance in this thread just so people can listen to some shitty band in peace. Nobody is telling you to stop listening to them if that’s what you want to do.

OhTheWater is sharing important information that deserves to be shared now that the band is gaining some traction again for the first time in, like, three years. If that bothers you, that’s on you and that’s not a good look.

I’ve got pretty limited emotional bandwidth to think about the JJR stuff, but think it’s important to keep bringing it up.

My line has yet to be crossed, but basically if Fireworks were to start touring with or start openly promoting Keep Flying or one of HC’s bands I would stop supporting as a fan and start openly criticizing.

We reach for the longest shadow

I tried to do this by saying it's possible to respect each other when there's some nuance to the situation, but I don't think that poster sees it that way. It's their way or the highway.

EDIT: As the top poster in this thread (lol apparently that matters now) where I'm at is that the individual interactions with JJR are worrisome, but not enough for me to write them off completely as of right now. If something happens like him touring with them or actively promoting his band, bringing them on tour, etc, I'll change my stance. I don't think that is "selling my soul for a shitty pop punk band" as was said earlier in this thread.

I know about all the JRR drama and the bands he’s worked with but I don’t actually know who he is. What does JRR stand for?

John James Ryan. Searching that on Instagram can show you who we’re talking about.

John James Ryan. He used to be The Wonder Years’ merch guy before they fired him (or let him go) after TWY got called out for the second time about JJR’s toxic behavior in defending Harry Corrigan, who is a rapist, and threatening to blacklist Christian Holden/The Hotelier for bringing awareness to what Harry Corrigan and JJR were doing.

Can't believe people are trying to "cancel" the band who's hanging out with a guy who tried to blacklist another band for calling out that guy's rapist friend that is still involved in the music scene.

    This all sucks still.

I thought he managed those bands… he was just a merch guy??

We reach for the longest shadow

When I saw TWY around 2011 he was selling merch, helping out on stage, and doing just about anything and everything to help the band out on stage, so I think it was more than just a merch guy.

I think he was their manager also, but, as the poster above me pointed out, he did a lot for the band

    Let it run Supporter

I think labeling him as just a merch guy takes a way a lot of context. Specifically the fact that he/Harry had (and have I guess) enough clout to have record labels and other bands threatening Jason and posters on the site who spoke out, to say nothing about what they said to Christian and people more directly connected to the situation.

Was not expecting Legion Hall, that's one of my favorite by them. I'm excited for this Michigan show

3 months left to drop this album. Beginning to think we may not see it until next year.

I would lose it at Legion Hall. It's the song I knew the band would have something in them.

I can't wait to go off for one song and then remember I'm older and much more out of shape and slowly fade to the back for their Michigan date
