Yeah, they were like super close with JJR throughout the allegations and almost proclaimed their friendship with him
Just wanna use this chance to say how masterful Oh Common Life is. I didn't get it at first, but once it clicked, it became my favorite of theirs by a pretty fat margin. Which is saying something because Gospel is also brilliant.
I think front to back Gospel is still my favorite (maybe my most listened to album ever?) but my favorite songs are on OCL. Woods, One More Creature Dizzy With Love, and Run Brother Run are masterful songs. Can’t wait to hear what they’ve done here.
Ah, I totally spaced that. It’s fucked how many bands still associate with him and his current band. Dudes had no repercussions except TWY cutting ties even though I’ve heard some of them are still close with him.
This. Oh Common Life is a masterpiece of an album. But it breaks my heart that the title track isn't on spotify
I just want to take credit for today's post from the band, you are all welcome for saving this album.
I honestly wouldn't be shocked even for a second if they saw this thread/post and figured they'd give an update
It'd been... maybe a decade since I listened to their initial EP, threw that on tonight and all the words just came flowing back like it had only been a day. So excited for the new album.
I put on OCL this morning and got transported right back to what I was doing and listening to in 2014. Insane year. This, Joyce Manor, PBTT, Copeland, Prawn, Hotelier, Circa, La Dispute, Anberlin, and 1989. Really influential year for me as far as my tastes becoming defined. EDIT: OCL is unreal good. Not sure how I forgot, it was my AOTY in 2014, haha.
as soon as i finish listening (and crying along) to the new regina spektor album i've got OCL and gospel queued up and ready to go.
X's on Trees might be one of my favorite songs ever lyrically. "If you feel your lake overflowing, I'll drink your water. We can spend more scholarship money to live like modern day draft dodgers."
I am incapable of listening to this band unbiased. I do not understand how they weren't the biggest thing around (along with TWY) during the 2011-2012 pop punk resurgence.
What was the response to Arrows when that dropped before Gospel? I think there are better songs on that album to pick as the lead single, and that was probably a lot of people's intro to the band. I would have been less likely to go deeper into them if that was the first song I had heard from them.
