Eh, in reality JJR is still everywhere in the scene. His clout lies more, if I’m correct, in the LI pop punk scene than it does with TWY. Seeing members of that band speak out about injustice or making the scene safer and then posting pictures with that dude is pretty reprehensible, especially when you know what (allegedly, I guess?) went on behind the scenes
I am convinced this band coming back was a fever dream. Fireworks broke up and we all have to move on.
I had a song from Gospel come on shuffle in the car the other day. My wife asked if they broke up or if they were still around. Had a hard time explaining the "well no, but yes" limbo they seem to be in.
I don’t mind the waiting, but I wish we had some kind of update. They released that song, then Soupy said they had an album ready (I think?), then they posted that other song on their Twitter like a year later… and now nothing lmao.
I'm guessing it was all supposed to coincide with a tour, and obviously those plans got thrown out the window with COVID.
I'm guessing (hoping) that they're waiting until things are completely in the clear covid-wise to start planning something again.
It's never going to happen, but what if they released a 7" of the Oh, Common Life Sessions. I still listen to those all the time.
I feel very peaceful about it at this point, like we know it'll come out eventually and it'll be good so I'm content to wait for them to feel ready to put it out. But also, wouldn't be mad if they just surprise dropped it today.
Yeah I’m convinced that if this does comes out it’s going to to be a different record. As of right now, I’d bet money on this record being dead.
The ONLY way I could see this coming out at this point is if TWY pulls the band from the dead for direct support on the tour for their new album.
I'm sure people in the know already know what that tour looks like. I don't, but wasn't that the plan for the Upsides/Suburbia tour before COVID hit?
i've heard Arm's Length is one of the openers but source is sometimes wrong. excited to see who direct support will be though. I think this is the tour where I'll finally try to hit multiple dates if they play close enough.
