I didn't realize he was such a great guitarist. It wouldn't surprise me if he was the main responsible for Phantasma and even World Of Violence, because I doubt Randy still was in the band at that point (I mean in 2015), and the other members were already being influenced by their fans and their label.
I still can't believe they did that new band with Senses Fail's singer. Both songs were atrocious, like the most basic thing I had heard by veterans in a long time and the most blatant attempt at reaching a specific audience. It didn't sound sincere at all to me. I know I'm ridiculous for making these statements, but that's how I really feel about it. It made it even harder to side with them instead of Nate concerning Finch's situation over the last decade.
apparently he was the best guitar player in the band. I used to talk to Randy and Grizz on AIM back in the day from time to time and they both said he was. I can believe it
His other projects prove it as well. It's weird that he even distanced himself from both the drummer and the bassist, which were also in Cosmonaut right ? Human relationships are complicated haha
If this is true, then it might be safe to say they're definitely holding him back. Hopeless Host has my favorite guitar parts by them, and Fireflies is crazy too.
For conversation sake, if one song had to be cut from SHTS I'd throw out Revelation: Song. I'm really sad Reduced to Teeth was mentioned more than once lol, what an incredible song. I've always placed it as one of their all time best. The random middle eastern sounding guitar, the great build up in the bridge that goes super heavy and that ending......
Yeah it's totally bizarre to me that anyone would point to "Reduced to Teeth" as one of the weaker songs on SHTS. Lyrically it's one of my favourites from Nate. Chasing demons dressed like me Their eyes are not like mine Ignorance is divine Instincts are reduced to teeth That bite the hand that feeds Fear thy father love thy martyr
My only real complaints are that it comes after HH which dampens how awesome everything you just said is, haha. Opening riff sounds malicious as shit too.
No way, HH isn't even in the same category as RtT I'll always hold dear the memories of the SHTS tour where they opened with Insomniatic Meat and went right into Reduced to Teeth and then right into Worms of the Earth. So epic.
Damn, that would have been a sight to behold. But seeing as HH is pretty much one of the best songs they ever wrote...
I just listened to SHTS for the first time in a couple of months and it's still one of the best albums ever. I love this band so much.
I love that this Finch Thread is blowing up. What is everyone's top 5 songs? I think everyone's will be all over the place. No order -Reduced to Teeth -Stay with Me (Steel, Wood and Whiskey version) -Perfection Through Silence -Insomniac Meat -Chinese Organ Thieves Hurt not to put WITSB, Ender and Awake on there.
Hopeless Host What it Is to burn Insomniatic Meat Dreams of Psilocybin idk maybe Post Script to be honest, haha, I love that jam. Or Miro.
Off the top of my head and in no particular order; Insomniatic Meat Grey Matter Ink Two Guns to the Temple Worms of the Earth
Top five unreleased tracks! The Beverly Chillbillies (so good) Souls For Sale Siren Song In Ruins Phantasma
So cool to see Insomniatic Meat on everyone's @Bryan Diem Post Script is so great! @Letterbomb31 New Beginnings is so good too. That bridge "I TRIIEEEEEDDDD!" always gets me pumped. What counts as unreleased though? The World of Violence and B-sides too? If so I'd go: In no order: Contra, Hail to the Fire, Phantasma, Bury White, Blackmass.
