Yeah I'm torn, I'm not sure if I'd rather be strung along with a new single and a bunch of studio footage and "soon!" (see: The Ataris) or just not hear from them at all and forget about them again until some good news arrives. Even if they are resigned to being a legacy act, you'd think they would be a little more active and transparent on socials, even just to push merch or something to make them some money. I wonder what kind of hell the ownership of their back catalog is in and if they've even considered officially releasing any of the unused demo albums. That's just straight up leaving money on the table, if they have the rights to remaster and put those out. (PS I love the Ataris and am looking forward to their new music very much, whenever it actually materializes)
Have you ever been into Glassjaw? :D But yeah, you’re right. It’s just really exhausting and frustrating.
Well next year is the 25 year anniversary for What It Is to Burn so I am sure they will be around to cash in on that. Maybe something will come then.
find finch way more frustrating at this point lol glassjaw have at least always had a unified vision for what theyve wanted themselves to be and when they want to put out music its always insane. finch's comeback run has been one decent album, two (maybe three?) scrapped albums, and two hiatuses. they actually are the rare band that comparatively makes glassjaw look functional
EVERYONE REMAIN CALM. It’s happening! Can’t say too much, but let’s just say I DM’d the band on Instagram and uh, something BIG is happening really, really soon (not tour related either).
I sent the band a message on Instagram (for real) and told them it’d be hilarious if they provided an update on new music or an upcoming album today because everyone would struggle to believe it even on a normal day. I can’t imagine they’ll be getting back to me.
okay now that April Fools is over, so this will not be suspected as a joke; I recently threw on Say Hello to Sunshine for the first time in forever (with headphones) and...it finally clicked for me. That album rips. No, the songs aren't really as catchy, but the instrumentation and performances are head and shoulders above WIITB, and are just so damn interesting. It sucks that it wasn't appreciated at the time for how good it is (myself included). If I ever meet them, I'm gonna tell them I'm sorry, we just weren't ready for it yet.
Looks like this new band may be the closest we get to new Finch anytime soon… Marc Allen is back! Really curious what this will sound like
Ugh, man. Happy for them but the implications of this (I’ve created) just hurts like hell. I should’ve never allowed myself to believe again.
