Because replying to me all day with either willful or wild misrepresentations of what I said, and doing it again with “clearly commercial success is all that maters” when I am replying to someone talking about commercial success is example like seven of the day. And I legit don’t understand why; I said that in my post: https://forum.chorus.fm/posts/6726840
I’m not gonna die on the hill that SHTS is a good album. It’s an opinion. However I just think that poster is acting in good faith and has stated they’ve made some mistakes in their message so maybe ease back a bit? Think we’re all just getting a bit too heated on a subject that’s not worth getting this heated over.
Hmm, more interested in the Finch secret pop-punk album belt holder hill to be honest. I’m all for a little levity! It’s Finch lol, and we’ve been talking about this same topic for like two decades now.
if youre still trying to talk shit about me hearing genre aesthetics you dont after everything then i take back my prior comment about not having a problem with you lmao the most absolute weirdo energy ive seen from a site mod in a minute. never really understood what made you so polarizing, now i got it also yeah i did not read everything with 100% perfect coherent accuracy and precision, that shit happens sometimes
lol mod site owner whatever tf also last im gonna say on this, whats the point of picking on users who arent actively being problematic? that energy should be saved for the adtr defenders in the yellowcard thread
I remember saying I didn't care about the songs on WIITB that sounded like pop-punk to my ears. Wasn't expecting the thread to then turn into genre semantics lol
Cliff notes from about halfway through: - Working on new material. Hope to have things released “sooner than later”. - Described the new material as “heavy” with a lot of “sorrow”. Said it’s a mix of old and new sounds. - Amazed fans still give them a chance after all the stops and starts over the years. Are aiming to revive their career.
WIITB is not a pop punk album, it may look that way in hindsight but back in the early aughts there was this "pop screamo" sub-genre that included bands like Finch, Senses Fail, Funeral for a Friend, The Used, From First to Last etc... We don't really use terms like "pop emo" or "pop metal" or "pop screamo" but that's effectively what a lot of the bands that bore out of ap.net consists of. This is where the phrase "the scene" accounted for. We've become less gatekeepy over the years and genres have become more blurred and harder to describe (does PUP and Yellowcard belong on the same pop punk playlist?). It's not totally unreasonable to consider Finch a pop punk band because, depending on your vantage point of the genre, all of these bands are kind of lumped together from a shared fan base. For example, Coheed and Cambria is not a pop punk or an emo band, they just got lumped into that fanbase because of the label they signed with and the bands they toured with. I don't know if any of this made sense. SHTS sucked though. WIITB is a good album, it doesn't quite hold up for me. I just don't think Finch is/was self-realized enough to achieve what bands like Thrice did, and that's why they ultimately failed at their "experimental" album.
Sorry I was deciding between "was shitty" and "sucked" and ended up splitting the difference. I corrected it. I'm so sorry for the mistake.
