For how “weird” SHTS is perceived to be - there’s some pretty straight forward songs on there like Revelation Song, A Piece of Mind, Ravenous, and Bitemarks. There also is some pretty cool melodies on the record too that get overlooked sadly. Anyways doing a lunch hike and throwing this awesome record on :)
This. Also I feel like the album DOES have more of a cult following and improved reputation over the years than some comments here are making it sound. I personally know several musicians who adore it and prefer it to WIITB. It’s a much less commercial album so it’s never gonna have the nostalgia tour draw of that album… I think Underoath has several better albums than TOCS, but it makes perfect sense to me why there’s the biggest nostalgia draw for those songs for example.
Extremely commercially successful albums. The next two albums debuted top ten and DTGL last I checked was their best selling album.
