By the way, Counterfit dropped a new (old) song and are playing shows again. Noticed it by accident the other day.

 

For how “weird” SHTS is perceived to be - there’s some pretty straight forward songs on there like Revelation Song, A Piece of Mind, Ravenous, and Bitemarks. There also is some pretty cool melodies on the record too that get overlooked sadly.

Anyways doing a lunch hike and throwing this awesome record on :)

Song holds up so well. Great balance of off-kilter heavy and catchy.

 

This. Also I feel like the album DOES have more of a cult following and improved reputation over the years than some comments here are making it sound. I personally know several musicians who adore it and prefer it to WIITB. It’s a much less commercial album so it’s never gonna have the nostalgia tour draw of that album… I think Underoath has several better albums than TOCS, but it makes perfect sense to me why there’s the biggest nostalgia draw for those songs for example.

 

tocs is a spot on comparison since underoath got muuuuuuuch better with the following three albums
