the band ignores it as well, they don't play anything off of it. when i saw em last year it was just stuff off the first two albums and a couple new songs.
im not sitting through 17 minutes of this video but had to share, it might be worth a laugh (as these videos usually are)
Alrighty, a bit of an actual update today. Finch live-streamed the first twenty minutes or so of their set at Leeds today (backstage and on stage). During the backstage portion, Randy leans into the phone and mentions the band’s currently writing a new record. As we are well aware, the news of Finch writing a record DOES NOT mean we’ll ever actually hear new music officially released, but it’s something (although I figured they’d be further along than this by now). The band’s also been playing two new songs during their most recent appearances. I’m assuming they’re still “Rainy Day” and “Horror Island” but if anyone else can confirm/deny that’d be cool. Setlist.fm doesn’t have any details yet.
I bet you they already have another scrapped album we’re just not hearing about lol They’ve been demoing on and off for like 5 years now.
New interview with Grizz at Slam Dunk festival. He says the new album is for people who liked SHTS. I looked at the set list online and it says they played a song called Palpatine. I wonder if it's 'rainy day' with a new title?
The new songs they played when I saw them were good, and they were definitely heavier than WIITB, so that isn’t too shocking of news. But I hope it’s betterrrrr than SHTS.
I'll believe it when I see it. I feel like it's the third (or fourth?) time since 2007 I'm anticipating a full-length that builds on Say Hello To Sunshine.
the 14 albums i put above it in the goat q1 of the century thread + sunflower + disintegration + automatic for the people + aquemini + achtung baby boom.done
According to peeps on their subreddit, Palpatine is a third new song. They played Horror Island, which was debuted live last year, as well.
A heavier WIITB could be nice. I just don't want to be that guy when I say this and I know SHTS has a bit of a cult following but... there's a reason they keep doing the WIITB anniversary tours and not the SHTS anniversary tours.
yeah because one is a pop punk album and the other has patton / dillinger influence lol, the commerciality of one albums style is not really a qualitative analysis not to also be that guy but
The influence and style of an album doesn't make it good, the songs do. Shts is a bad album of bad songs, no matter the genre
as there is objective truth over what makes a good song good got it missed my point anyway, which was that its influences made it inherently less commercial
Yeah SHTS is amazinggggggg - y’all are tripping. The two songs they played didn’t sound like straight up SHTS songs but more so a much heavier WIITB with some solid SHTS quirks and a ton of Deftones infused into one sound. If it’s like that for the next record - I’m sure everyone will be relatively happy.
