It is fascinating to have a band that hit the sophomore slump so hard due to its general fanbase detesting their follow up album, but also a shame. SHTS enjoyer here. And honestly Back to Oblivion too, although Phantasma > BtO
Back To Oblivion would have made for a great EP: Further from the Few Anywhere but Here Picasso Trigger Play Dead Two Guns Tarot Inferium I could get down with that big time. However, there’s a decent amount of filler on the record and I don’t think they pushed themselves enough on it. Had they properly recorded/released Phantasma - I think it would have scratched that itch.
Honestly, just wish the band would release a proper finished version of Phantasma. Black Mass is so goddamn good.
Did a run through of the band’s discography (both released and unreleased) while playing a lot of Mario Kart and this is my ranking: Say Hello To Sunshine What It Is To Burn World of Violence Phantasma Back To Oblivion (their 2008 EP is tied with this tbh)
Probably want to go to the Blink or Green Day thread for that, start an album ranking. Then you'll see a SHTS show.
Oh damn - you’re right! I would probably rank it last since I’m not big on Waiting or New Kid anyways.
They have a countdown now for two days from now. https://www.instagram.com/stories/officialfinch/3286008997735657755?igsh=MWF0dzZqZXZxcThxcw==
I'm listening to SHTS right now for... the first or second time ever? I'm halfway through and so far it's got a couple awesome songs, a couple awesome PARTS to some songs, but I'm only halfway through the album and I'm already looking forward to it ending. This thing's almost an hour long!
it reminds me of a band trying be Glassjaw but coming out sounding like ILAD era The Used, and none of it is really that great.
