FINALS: (1) Radiohead - OK Computer vs. (7) Jimmy Eat World - Futures Bracket • Page 3

Discussion in 'Music Forum' started by phaynes12, Sep 19, 2022.

  1. TDAG for sure, but I think a lot of fans at least on here had started to sour a little on Deja. By which I mean they still thought it was a great record, just nowhere near the level of TDAG. But yeah, could see that record taking the place of either of these, likely Futures as the more modern/scene-specific pick.

I prefer Deja. Also think we shouldn't used "cancelled" lol. Maybe "What are the odds if Jesse wasn't a pedophile manipulative piece of shit that ruined the legacy of the band and soured his fans' connection with the music that..."

agree with the others. i don’t see deja making it that far but tdag would almost certainly have been final four. idk about it winning the whole thing though.

I wondered about where BN would've fallen in these polls, too. I think TDAG would've won it all.

I was not on the AP forum at all in those days. Didnt know TDAG was regarded as a top couple album by most.

With the My Chem renaissance in recent years, it might not even have won it’s yearly thread!

I haven't shut up about this since the news broke! It's either incredible or an abomination and I'll be thrilled either way

Also for whatever it's worth the only time I saw a comment that felt particularly out of hand was when someone called people voting against Weezer clinically insane. There's definitely been some typical Chorus snark but for the most part I don't think it's been even half as bad as some of the conversations that happen in the Entertainment forum

my money would have actually been on Science Fiction making it further than Deja.

Iirc, it was….extremely well received and critically acclaimed, and probably would have gotten TDAG levels of love had it not been cut short by the news

It probably would have won 2017, just like it probably would have won AOTY on the Chorus staff list in 2017. Instead, Golden Hour reigned on both fronts, which I'm glad about.

Pretty sure Science Fiction was the first time an AP.net "scene" band got a BNM on Pitchfork.

It's funny that you guys are now just discussing which BN albums are great enough for this tournament while also trying not to discuss BN albums for this tournament :crylaugh:

I for one have never actually listened to a Brand New album

For the record, I was always pretty cold on all the Brand New records. They were never "my" band, and would never have gotten a vote from me anyway. But they undoubtedly would have been a factor in this exercise had Lacey not turned out to be a piece of shit.
