I like Blue a lot. It's probably my second-favourite outside of Pinkerton. None of those songs are as good as Polaris lol.

 

I tend to find Green pretty dull. It's fine, but whenever I listen to it, it kind of passes in a blur. The song in question is pleasantly catchy enough, but I'd take every song on Futures over it.

Yep. It's an odd line they walk and usually why I have to be in the mood for something that isn't Clarity, Bleed American, or Futures.

 

"Say It Ain't So" is great, but yes, "Polaris" is a better song. And "Only in Dreams" would maybe be my sixth favorite Jimmy Eat World closer?

We're all just shitting out our takes lol. This is just as fun as the early threads, in a different way.

 

Also, like, we can do this all day? Pretty easy to chalk this up to "I like this band more, you like that band more." I have a lot of issues with Rivers as a lyricist (Pinkerton's masterpiece status aside, that album is a pretty icky listen for me, for instance) and think he's a fairly limited vocalist, which tends to put a cap on my enjoyment of Weezer. But I get similarly taking issue with Jim's sentimentality or with the slick production of some of those later Jimmy Eat World records. I love that shit, but I get it!

 

Yeah it all just shows how incredibly subjective it all is. I can't imagine a world where I'd listen to Dizzy and think it's just fine or that I'd like anything on Green more than Polaris. It's cool that other people do though!

 

It’s better than every single Weezer song and all but 3 Oasis songs.

 

Jimmy Eat World has never put out a song half as embarrassing as the one-two punch of I’m Your Daddy and The Girl Got Hot

 

i think it can be boiled down basically to a) are vocals the most important part of music to you or b) are the instrumentals the most important part

jim is a better singer, yes, though i would argue the vocals on the first three weezer albums are as emotive than anything from JEW. weezer are much more talented instrumentally.
