Final Four: (7) Jimmy Eat World - Futures vs. (27) Weezer - Weezer (The Blue Album) Bracket • Page 4

Discussion in 'Music Forum' started by phaynes12, Sep 12, 2022.

  1. Struggling to work today, so I'll revisit the Jimmy records post-Futures.

  2. "Big Casino" goes obviously and I really like "Let It Happen." Not as big on "Always Be"

"Always Be" is my favourite of those first three haha. Such a great chorus.

    nah it's pretty accurate

i also said i dont get rumours, a much worse take than "eh, JEW and Weezer have similar careers" lol

the only thing aaron has said that made me ? a bit was the placement of Green

always be, let it happen and electable are pretty terrible songs, but they're easy to overlook with how good some of the others are

I'll take all three of those over anything on Green.

Jimmy Eat World could play zero Chase This Light songs in a set and nothing would be lost

other than their best album and best song.

  11. yeah I think I just played it too much in high school. it's a good record.

Chase This Light is solid - a little too sugary in parts and a little too sentimental in others, which I get go hand-in-hand with this band. I do not like "Here It Goes" at all, but the rest of this has been nice. It's just not likely to be the Jimmy album I reach for. Kinda like Green with Weezer, haha.

Static Prevails was good. I liked it better than Futures

okay this is spicy lol, their best non-clarity song is on CTL imo

this is kind of my issue with the band as a whole post-CTL. i agree they do it on some of the bad songs on CTL but it's also what makes some of the great ones work

better than any song on futures and blue has about 8 songs better than this

actually kinda feels like a song JEW have tried and failed to write more than a few times

Can't see the specific song but can see it's something from Green so I know it wouldn't even come close to Kill, Work or Polaris for me.

kill is fine. polaris is one of their best. the song i linked is better and it's a fraction as good as the world has turned and left me here.

On any given day I will choose to listen to JEW over either of those two, so . . .

Most of their best songs are not on Clarity.

That's my favourite on Blue and way better than anything on Green but still not as good as those three imo.

If the whole album was as good as those three songs I'd understand Futures doing so well in this bracket more lol.

i like polaris a lot. it's my favorite on this record and probably second-favorite outside of clarity. there are 8 songs on blue better than it lol.

"Kill" is JEW's second best song (after "A Praise Chorus"). "Futures", "The World You Love", "Polaris", and "23" are all reasonable candidates for their top 10. "Night Drive" is possibly their most underrated song (other candidates would be "Blister" and "Closer").
