OK Human being better than Bleed American is not a take I was expecting to see today.

I'm having trouble imagining that Jimmy Eat World made an album as bad as weezer black. Might have just inspired me to listen to Damage today.

I like Damage more than a good number of Weezer albums. Haven't heard Black yet so can't comment on that lol.

Weezer’s highs are higher, but their lows are lower. JEW is a model of consistency by contrast. Even weaker albums like Damage are mostly fine, just a little dull.

I'd agree with that although my favourite individual songs from either band are Jimmy Eat World songs, ha.

nah. it’s more compressed but the bad is still bad and the great is still great. clarity to self titled might as well be pinkerton to raditude

Never listened to s/t. JEW for me starts with Clarity. Kinda like how the National really became “the National” with Alligator.

Black, Red, Rad, Hurley, and Pacific Daydream are all way worse than any Jimmy album beyond the self-titled debut, IMO. I like Weezer, but they're pretty much one-in-three for me at this point. Among the bands I continue to care about, I can't think of one with a worse batting average or a higher number of albums I think are bad.

Why haven’t you heard their best record?

  15. stuff like this rocks

  16. It's like little pockets of quality for me. The top three Weezer albums are better than the top three Jimmy albums imo (even though all six are great, and then me being a bigger Weezer fan just takes over. Never listened to Jimmy's S/T or Static Prevails. Weezer definitely has the lower lows, though.

Pacific Daydream and Black in the "Good" tier and Chase This Light in the "Okay" tier is making my eyes pop out of my head.

I do genuinely love Pacific Daydream these days but Black being good may be a stretch lol. Maybe I've just heard Green so much that I reach for it more often because it's such an oddball.

Overall, I am a bigger Weezer fan than I am a Jimmy Eat World, and I grew up with Blue. It's one of the first albums I can remember listening to as an 8-year-old kid in elementary school and really being into it and then obviously listening to it over the course of the next 28+ years. It's safe to say that Blue shaped my musical interests at a very young age.

But Futures is a better album.

  23. Can't be worse than mine lmao

  24. Jimmy Eat World post-Chase This Light is like Marvel. I find the formula to be consistent, but I'm never really going back to them. For better or (usually) worse, Weezer takes bigger swings and I typically never forget what they went for on any given record. Their albums have more of a singular identity imho.
