The combat is so good. Hopefully now people will realise that the combat in FFXV didn't suck because it was an action RPG, it sucked because it was bad.

note for everyone: if you don’t finish all the side quests in a chapter and you progress, they fail. So do them all before moving on. Idk if I’ll be able to go back and get the one I missed

 

I think you can chapter select at endgame

 

I also stopped a bit into Chapter 3 and fuuuuuuuuck, is this game beautiful!?

 

I'm actually gutted I didn't get the deluxe edition for the soundtrack now.

 

Asking nicely for you all to stop talking, I don't need to be tempted into buying any more games right now.

 

I can’t believe that I’m actually finally playing this! I stayed up last night and played until chapter three. Recently woke up and started doing a few side quests. They are kinda run of the mill ”go there and kill some monsters” kind of side quests, but I love this game so much. Just customizing my weapons makes me giddy.

And holy shit, that skybox in the daytime slums is amazing!

The music is spectacular my god

 

Oh I really enjoyed the combat in XV. It was the padding/grinding I didn’t care for lol.

 

I played FFXV right after Witcher 3 and it just felt so bad in comparison

Of course there's cats it wouldn't be a JRPG without them

 

The combat in FFXV was good. The combat in FFVIIR is even better. The, like, WEIGHT that they gave to Cloud’s sword just feels so right. And the quick swapping between characters to use their different abilities feels fantastic. Also love how they incorporated the stagger mechanic, how different enemies stagger easier with different tactics (like how switching to Cloud’s Punisher stance easily handles the dog enemies). It’s one of the best real time combat systems they’ve come up with so far.

 

Weapon upgrade is a GREAT new system too

 

This game is better than FFXV in every single way

 

Trying to think about when the next parts will come out. I think they won’t be able to resist releasing a game in 2027 for the 30-year(!) anniversary, and that game will probably be part 3. I think we (hopefully) see part 2 in 2023 on PS5 and then part 3 in 2027 as either the swan song of PS5 or a launch title or for PS6 or whatever comes next after PS5.

Thinking about a game possibly being a PS6 game when the PS5 isn't even out yet feels weird to me lol
