Yep, not liking this Bummer Gonna still buy it day 1 and play the hell out of it, perhaps I just need to get used to it. The dialogue is super corny but I find most in-game dialogue between characters like this corny. I guess.
I also always pronounced it like 'may-ko' and I don't like that ive had it wrong after all of these years
Just finished Man I am pretty damn bummed out. I guess I can attain some of it to having to get used to the combat but it just felt tedious and uncomfortable. The camera is a little too wild and I can't locate enemies that easily, guess I need to take advantage of the lock-on button more. It's absolutely fucking terrible you need your ATB to be filled to use a potion. I don't want Barrett doing the victory theme to be a regular thing. Why the fuck can't SE just make fucking turn-based Final Fantasy games anymore
Did you play in Normal mode or in Classic mode I think I'ma try Classic after work and see if it feels any different/better (it probably won't)
I thought about it but didn't try it yet, it looks like its just auto attack and then it pauses when the ATB fills up?
Thank you Joey, I need some god damn optimism about this. I really do think I will grow to like it, they really kinda just thrust you into the combat and you just gotta git gud pretty quick. I got in a decent flow during the scorpion battle and that was fun. The small battles just felt kinda clunky to me and I didn't know what was going on
It feels like a mix of KH and FFXV to me, it’s a little challenging at clunky at first but I feel like I got a good groove to it going further in.
I do really love the foreshadowing and actually understanding that Cloud’s mind is messed up and foggy
I agree with this but in a bad way I'm not giving up on it through I'll try it out a few more times and see how it starts to feel
I agree that most of my complaints are the combat, the camera placement and some fighting animations which hopefully get worked before release.
I don't feel like playing it again to check right now, but there is an options menu where you can adjust the camera's position. It might help
So is classic mode basically like FF12's combat, only you get to have direct control over your attacks? Also why is everyone so worried about this being an expansion on/reimagining of the Midgar portion of the first game? It makes sense for this to be more linear and set in Midgar since its visuals are pushing the PS4 so much. Hopefully the sequel will be open world featuring Advent Children graphics, with the final game set in the same world but prioritizing exploration of new areas of the map (similar to how RDR2 expands on RDR1's map). The story in those won't need to be as expanded and reimagined as the first one's. Seems like it should still work out well enough and could be next gen's Star Wars or LOTR-level trilogy event to look forward to.
I think the worry is that Midgar is what, 7 to 10 hours in the first game. So having 80 hours just in Midgar is a hugeeeee amount of new material.
They’ve never said 80 hours, so I’d get the hype on that down a bit. I’ve always assumed it’ll be 20-40
Yeah idk where I came up with 80, but i'd be pretty damn upset if it's over in 20 or 30 hours. Looking up at some sites they are speculating 50 to 60, idk what they are basing that off of. I guess the belief would be doing all the extra stuff would lead you to 60+ hours.
I remember hearing something like 80 hours. I'm worried it'll be a bunch of filler. Not sure why they needed to expand it so much.
