It feels like they put so much effort into the gameplay itself that the story kept getting put on the back burner, then they were given a strict release date and said "well, shit."
There's another part of the game later on that is even more jarring. Chapter 13 is literally Dead Space/Resident Evil/survival horror.
I kinda wonder if SE saw the backlash of how in depth FFXIII's story was and how difficult it was to process and basically said "Well we'll dumb down the presentation for XV".
That sounds pretty interesting. I have gotten some survival horror vibes in a few areas. I think the game really nailed the open world JRPG concept. It might be the best ever. And I never thought Xenoblade would be topped.
I can't remember anything about FFXIII's story and I finished the game. I'd rather have a a more basic plot than something as convoluted and forgettable as FFXIII's.
The thing is, if you look more into it, the plot is fairly deep. They didn't have enough time to properly execute it and if suffered because of that.
The presentation itself wasn't that deep though, if that makes sense. It was presented in a way that a casual fan could play through it and understand all the basics of it, then the more in-depth aspects were implied and hidden away for the less casual fan.
Seriously, FUCK Pitioss ruins. The controls in this game aren't tight enough to pull off complicated platforming.
Just finished the game. More thoughts on it soon, but I just went and read a bunch of synopsis stuff on the web and I'm like LOL WHAT
A woman I work with, probably about 55-60, starting talking in-depth about her feelings on FFXV and how she preferred FFXIV. It was a truly surreal experience to hear someone that age talk about a JRPG in depth.
I'm just amazed someone enjoyed the whole FFXIV story Like, I enjoyed A Realm Reborn but Heavensward really did X-2 that story
I'm sure this was probably mentioned before and sorry to break up the XV talk, but I just found out about the FF TCG yesterday. The MtG player in me wants to go all in even though I doubt it will have success over here.
Does the M series have HDR? Have you played Uncharted 4 yet? I just got a PS4 pro when it came out (my first PS4) so I hadn't played it yet. Just beat the Nathan Drake collection then started UC4 tonight. Now THAT game looks amazing with HDR on my KS8000. Blows FFXV out of the water. Although....has the pro patch been released for FF yet?
Anyone have any tips for A Wall In Our Way hunt? I've only tried it twice but both times it felt like I was on the wrong side of the wall / couldn't really damage the demon. It's really annoying to have to backtrack through that dungeon
What level are you at? Equip holy weapons if you have them. I used armiger and that did work. Maybe have a high level magic, fire? Just beat Naglfar myself. Started the key dungeons. Beat the first one. These are cool, but not having a map kinda blows.
It might sound crazy, but I think this game is getting close to overtaking Xenoblade as my favorite ever. Being at this point in my life, I wasn't sure if a game would ever captivate me again the way FF15 has. I spent 20 minutes reeling in a fish at one of the secret Vesperpool fishing spots only accessible by Chocobo and realized that I really love this game. It's got it all and does enough right and has enough new JRPG nuances to warrant a very high grade. The story is still the only real drawback I can reference, but I'm not far enough to really judge. And honestly, I just don't know if it matters enough to effect my opinion of the overall game. The combat may not be perfect, but It comes together really well eventually. And I still have so much to do.
All I know about the story is someone killed my father and I'm ridin on the fool. Also I have a huge crush on this mechanic woman.
