I am installing this game now and it is taking forever but I'm so excited. This is the first FF I've owned, I borrowed X from a friend many many years ago and played the first few hours and stopped for whatever reason.

 

The fight with Leviathon in Chapter 9 is so epic but kind of a bummer that it's a gimmick fight that you can't lose and doesn't require any strategy

 

Just finished chapter 7. 27 hours in and level 40. It definitely gets to a point where being more linear and pushing you toward story rather than open world quests after chapter 5. Still like the Titan fight best so far.

 

I finished the main story this morning, and I absolutely loved it. Yes, there are some parts near the end that get kind of ridiculous and feel rushed, but overall, I truly love this game and am so glad it was able to be made. I felt so connected to these characters. I haven't felt this way about a FF game since FFX, which is still my favorite.

 

If I use Umbra to return to a memory, does that just let me go back to open world and do quests and hunts? Will they still count when I return to the story? Also god damn, Chapter 10 is such a bummer so far. I went super saiyan and beat up A GOD, it's not my fault Ignis is blind.

 

I finally went to the tomb and received the first two royal arms, im almost level 20, I got a little side quest crazy.

 

Will I be able to get the upgraded weapons from Cid if I already sailed to chapter 9?

 

Yes everything you do, XP you get, items, etc etc will all continue through when you decide to continue the story

Yes, you will have the option to go back to the open world and resume quests/get weapons at points during and after chapter 9.

Oh shit that partially aerial battle with Highwind was cool. Probably the coolest battle outside the Titan thing that's already been mentioned.

Also does anyone else get damaged by the imperial mechs blowing up after you beat them like almost every damn time lol? one day I'll remember to step back a bit afterwards.

 

I like the idea of chapter 13, but god damn is the constant backtracking and not being able to sprint annoying. Just happy I got Umbra back so I can take a break and do some quests, and head back to Altissa to get my gambling on

 

I agree. That was my second favorite boss battle as well. Wish we could have her in the party at all times haha

 

Just beat it, overall pretty happy with it. They definitely gloss over some story/plot points which had me confused, so I'll be interested in checking out the scenes they add. I know I missed a lot of stuff, so glad I could go back to the open world and keep playing.

I'm hearing you can get an airship? Where is that? I'm into that.

 

You need three times from the three bases you can infiltrate - two of them from the story, the last is one you'll have pointed out if you pass it in the world but it's not random or anything so you can look up the location if you want. Talk to Cindy after beating that last base and then there you go.

I have 38 hours played, lvl 46 and just finished chapter 9, which I was "meh" on more than anything in the game so far actually. Going back to side quests and such again tonight for a bit. I'm hoping the patch is out to fix chapter 13 this week or next, cause I'm gonna get there soon.

 

Been playing forever.. Last night I banked like 40k exp and stayed at the Qualdin hotel that is 2x and went from 30 to 39.

Didn't realize I could go back to Hammerhead until late last night. I thought I was cut off from it for a while. I'll never complete the story at this rate. Far too many sidequests. My OCD is kicking in hard.

 

Yeah. It's crazy that the only time I seem to advance the storyline much is when I put in like a 4 hour session. The first 3 hours being side quests and stuff.

I just got to chapter 9 though so I may not have as much side quest stuff to do. The city seems massive.

 

Exactly, I'm already severely over powered for being only in CH.3.

I also love the fact that I was just exploring and randomly found a Royal weapon. The staff of Pous or something like that.

I haven't even gotten my first summon yet!

Have you or anyone else gotten the supercharger for the Regalia?

 

Was watching Youtube videos and there is a lot more to this game than I thought. A lot of extra weapons and stuff to get. Also a lvl 120 secret Omega Weapon boss battle I'm thoroughly looking forward to.
